FRIDAY FINDS showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library — wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).
Happy Friday all. This is my favorite day of the week. I’m still on vacation so it has been really nice to sleep in and enjoy the lazy days of summer. I’ll be sharing a few vacation pics next week on my Really Random Tuesdays post.
Lainy asked me about Otis, so I thought I’d share a pic of him I took this week. Here he is doing what he does best, relaxing. He is such a little ham, so much personality. He follows me around everywhere, he’s sitting on my lap now as I type this up.
On a bookish note, here are a few of the books I have discovered lately and have added to my ever-growing wish list:
Georgiana: Duchess of Devonshire Paperback by Amanda Foreman
After reading and enjoying Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser, I know I have to read more on this interesting time period. I also viewed the film The Duchess, which was very good and peaked my interest even more. Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, was also the great-great-great-great-aunt of Diana the Princess of Wales and a friend of Marie Antoinette’s.
Eleanor of Aquitaine by Alison Weir. This one grabbed my eye because Eleanor of Aquitaine is described as being “one of the great heroines of the Middle Ages” and I have heard good things about Alison Weir.
Antonia Fraser impressed me with Marie Antoinette: The Journey so I want to read more of her work.
Love and Louis XIV: The Women in the Life of the Sun King is just one of her books that I’ve added to my wish list.

Otis is adorable. I’ve read some Antonia Fraser books in the past and liked them. It’s been a while though.
I have six books today at https://madamevauquer.wordpress.com/2015/07/31/penghlis-durrell-beaton-bowen-hambly/

I tend to read a lot of historical biographies. I think that one can really learn a a lot about a period from them. Those books that you picked up look so good.
Otis is awesome!

Hi Naida,
Otis looks like a typical man … just ‘resting his eyes’ and chilling out at every opportunity – I love his ears, he looks permanently windswept 🙂
You seem to be on a historical biography run at the moment .. you have some quite heavy reading there – although you have chosen arguably three of the most prominent authors in their field, to help you on your journey. I wonder if you plan to read the three books consecutively, or if you are going to give yourself a break and mix the genres up a bit?
I rather tend to put non-fiction books on the back burner, in favour of the easier to read fiction storylines, although I always enjoyed studying facts and figures in my youth. Lets face it – there are simply too many books to read in one lifetime 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your summer, it is good to have you back online.

Hi Yvonne, lol yes permanently windswept is the perfect way to describe his ears 🙂
Well, I haven’t purchased these books but added them to my wishlist. I’ll be reading different genres in between if I do read these.
I know, there will always be too many books and not enough time.
Enjoy your summer as well!

Otis is so adorable. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation. I am looking forward to the end of summer and the warm weather so I can sleep in on Sundays again! My one day to sleep in and during the summers I have to get up early so we can get to the pool (for my daughter and her best friend to play).
Those books all sound good! Have a great week!

Hi Literary 🙂 Sleeping in is such a treat. I tend to sleep in on the weekends then I just love lounging around the house in my pj’s with my coffee in the mornings.
Enjoy your week too .
