Appearing on random Tuesdays, Really Random Tuesday is a way to post odds and ends–announcements, musings, quotes, photos–any blogging and book-related things you can think of. I often announce my book giveaway winners in these posts….The lovely Suko hosts RRT.
I know I always say this, but where does the time go? August is here so soon it seems. That means that September is just around the corner, and along with that all the back to school run around that comes along with that time of the year.
I was on vacation for a few weeks which has been really nice. There is something to be said about not really sticking to the clock or to any schedule.
While at the lake this summer, I could not get enough of the sky and clouds and took my Canon with me pretty much everywhere I went. The images below are all unedited, you can click on them to get a larger view if you’d like.
Hubby is a good sport and woke up at 5:30am with me to take photos of the sun rising on the lake. I would tan and read sitting in those Adirondack chairs.
The sky would turn this shade of pink some evenings. It was truly a beautiful sight to see. This shot reminded me of a quote I like: “Those clouds are angels’ robes.” -Charles Kingsley
I did plenty of this…reading by the water. What is nice as well is that several of the other residents who vacation at the cabins are also readers so I had a few nice book discussions during the week.
This one was taken by my son and edited on his Instagram. We went 3 mile lazy river tubing while on vacation and this is the bus our tour guides drove our group out in to the starting point. I love the blue color, it looks so vintage and summery.

On a bookish note, I just finished reading The Toy Taker by Luke Delaney and my review for that will be up soon. This was a gritty, fast paced thriller.
……….
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
And finally, a teaser from 11/22/63 by Stephen King which I have been immersed in and have about 200 pages left of. King just has this way of setting the stage, creating the mood and then taking the reader on an adventure. At 849 pages, it was easy to find teasers to share, but difficult to choose just two.
Certain empty houses that seemed to stare like the faces of people suffering from terrible mental illness. An empty barn on the outskirts of town, the hayloft door swinging slowly open and closed on rusty hinges, first disclosing darkness, then hiding it, then disclosing it again.
p. 179, 11/12/63
I’d read a book called A Reliable Wife not too long before leaving on the world’s strangest trip, and as I climbed into bed, a line from the novel crossed my mind: “He had lost the habit of romance.”
That’s me, I thought as I turned out the light.
p.342
That’s about all for now. How is your summer going? What are you reading?

It sounds you had a lovely holiday! Oh to be able to live without a clock for even a few days! The photos are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
I haven’t yet read 11/22/63, but I’ve been hearing it is really good.

Some of Stephen King’s books are too scary for me, but I think I could read this one. I’m intrigued.
My Tuesday post features SHELTER US.

Hi Sandra, this one isn’t scary. There is some violence, but it’s more of an adventure read.

Hi Naida,
I loved the Charles Kingsley quote, there are so many cloud formations and hue and colour of sky, this quote could apply to, but it did fit your picture beautifully.
I won ‘The Toy Taker’ as a Goodreads Giveaway, although it is still firmly languishing in my TBR pile somewhere. So I shall look forward to your review, so as to know what to expect from reading it 🙂
I still haven’t become reaquainted with Stephen King yet, although I like it when a book offers up an abundance of teaser lines to choose from, no matter on which page it is opened. Your first excerpt in particular, was really atmospheric and set the scene wonderfully.
Glad you had a good holiday ad welcome back 🙂
