Mailbox Monday 8.17.15: books, crochet and a new bookmark

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Happy Monday everyone. I always find that Monday’s are better when there are books involved.
I took that mailbox photo above while out on a drive one weekend and I thought it would be perfect for a MM post.

Anyway, onto my mailbox… 

I purchased two books lately and one arrived for review. I also got a new bookmark that reads “My workout is reading in bed until my arms hurt.” I couldn’t resist it.
It Ended Badly: Thirteen of the Worst Breakups in History by Jennifer Wright arrived via AmazonVine. I am halfway through this one, and have gotten some laughs out of it already.
“A history of heartbreak-replete with beheadings, uprisings, creepy sex dolls, and celebrity gossip-and its disastrously bad consequences throughout time.”

Get Out of My Life, but First Could You Drive Me & Cheryl to the Mall: A Parent’s Guide to the New Teenager by Anthony E. Wolf . I saw this one and thought it might come in handy. The only books I have read in regards to raising children are by Dr. Phil and his are very good.

While on vacation a few weeks back, I popped into the Barnes and Noble specifically looking for The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. I found it in the bargain section for a nice price, which was an added plus. I cannot wait to read this one.

I watched the film version not too long ago and it was really good. Has anyone read or watched this one?

And last but not least, when the summer begins to come to an end, I tend to get inspired to pick up my hook and yarn. I found a pattern through Red Heart called Chic Cowl Neck Poncho. Although the pattern calls for a chunky yarn, I am using a different kind, so I had to adjust the pattern accordingly since my hook size and yarn selection affect the stitch counts, etc. So far, so good.
