Mailbox Monday: Happy New Year, Books and Crochet

mm

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

I am officially ringing in the blogging new year with a Mailbox Monday post (even though I already posted a review a few days ago).

Happy 2016! May it be full of blessings and lots of good books. 2015 was the year I came back to blog-land and started anew and it has been a good book blogging year. I managed to read 30 books this past year and among my top favorites were Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser and Letters to the Lost by Iona Grey.

My one year blog-versary is in a few weeks, I will be hosting a giveaway for that so stay tuned 🙂

Now onto my mailbox….

follow
After reading Lainy’s review of Follow Me by Angela Clark I went right on over to NetGalley to request a copy. This one sounds very good, I like the whole social media aspect of it.

Description:
LIKE. SHARE. FOLLOW . . . DIE

The ‘Hashtag Murderer’ posts chilling cryptic clues online, pointing to their next target. Taunting the police. Enthralling the press. Capturing the public’s imagination.

But this is no virtual threat.

As the number of his followers rises, so does the body count.

Eight years ago two young girls did something unforgivable. Now ambitious police officer Nasreen and investigative journalist Freddie are thrown together again in a desperate struggle to catch this cunning, fame-crazed killer. But can they stay one step ahead of him? And can they escape their own past?

Time’s running out. Everyone is following the #Murderer. But what if he is following you?

ONLINE, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM …

sweet
Sweet Bliss by Helena Rac came via NetGalley as well and I am already nearly done with it. This is actually my first official read of 2016.

Description
From debut author Helena Rac, a sassy, sexy comic tale of second-chance romance and the many uses of icing. Tessa loves cupcakes. They’re tasty and comforting, and they’ve made her bakery a success. Men, on the other hand, are unreliable jerks who are bound to break her heart. Even if they’re hot enough to melt her frosting. Tessa is smitten with Luke after a less than graceful encounter on the streets of Chicago, and fate keeps reuniting them. She’s certain he’d be delicious in bed, but there’s just one problem: Tessa’s sworn off long-distance romances, and Luke lives in London. Besides, he’s proven himself to be bad news. Although Tessa’s sexy stranger swears to set aside his player ways after she carries out sweet revenge, she’s far too smart to believe in happily-ever-afters. Luke will need to use every weapon in his arsenal – including a spatula or two – to convince Tessa they’re meant to be together.

And last but not least, this little bunny did not arrive at my house but left it recently. I crocheted her for my niece for Christmas. I was happy with the results. I don’t really follow a pattern for this kind of project, I just go with the flow.  I find it such a wonderful creative outlet.

In progress…

Completed…

That’s all for now, what books have arrived at your doorstep recently?
Enjoy your week!

  4. Such an adorable bunny! A treasure, really.

Your new books sound good, especially Follow Me. Lainy’s review had me putting that on my wish list as well. I got three books this week through Edelweiss I had forgotten I requested. It must have been last month some time. So, they came as a nice surprise.

I hope you have a great week, Naida! Happy New Year!

  5. Have a happy New Year.

    I like the crochet bunny.

And the book about the Hashtag Murderer looks freaky. I’d be too much of a wimp to watch it if it were ever made into a movie 🙂

  6. Hi Naida,

I checked and sure enough, I already had ‘Follow Me’ on my Goodreads ‘Want To Read’ list. However, when I read that you had bagged your copy from NetGalley, I clicked straight across, discovered that it was still available and registered my request for a copy.

I’m not too sure about the concept of this being an ‘on-line’ thriller, however I am right in the middle of reading a great psychological thriller (Flowers For The Dead by Barbara Copperthwaite), about a stalker, who combines modern and traditional methods to hunt his prey, so I would quite like to give ‘Follow Me’ a try, as a natural follow-on.

Thanks for sharing and have a great week 🙂

    Yvonne
