Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Happiness is books in my mailbox and I have a very crafty mailbox to share this week. Aside from books in the mail, our elf on the shelf Noel showed up this week also. He has been hanging out around my book shelves.

Sunset in Central Park  by Sarah Morgan arrived via AmazonVine. This one caught my eye because it has two things I enjoy, romance and New York.

In the chaos of New York, true love can be hard to find, even when it’s been right under your nose all along…

200 Fun Things to Crochet contains an irresistible collection of small and cute crochet projects suitable for all abilities. Containing a mix of beautiful, three-dimensional projects inspired by nature – flowers, birds, bugs, leaves and even creatures from the sea – as well as a collection of charming floral square motifs, you will have no trouble finding something that will inspire you to pick up a hook and start crocheting. Ideal for using up scraps of yarn, the 200 mini projects are quick and easy to make, both at home and on the go, and make stylish embellishments to give or to keep.

My sister-in-law gifted me Jane Austen Cover to Cover: 200 Years of Classic Book Covers for my birthday yesterday. She knows me well.

Jane Austen never goes out of style. Since the first publication of her six novels in the 19th century, she has delighted generations of fans with classic stories that have never changed—and countless covers that have. Jane Austen Cover to Cover compiles two centuries of design showcasing one of the world’s most beloved and celebrated novelists. With over 200 images, plus historical commentary, Austen trivia, and a little bit of wit, this fascinating and visually intriguing look back is a must for Janeites, design enthusiasts, and book lovers of every age.

My goal for this week is to read much more on my downtime. I’m reading All I Want for Christmas by Jenny Hale and I also want to finish up Take a Chance on Me by Jill Mansell, which I’ve been dipping in and out of here and there. I’ve been crocheting alot lately so my reading takes the back burner. I found this fan stitch pattern online and started working up a wrap/scarf with it.

That’s all for now, what books have arrived at your doorstep recently? Enjoy your week xo

  1. Hi Naida,

    ‘Happy Belated Birthday’ 🙂

‘Elf On The Shelf’ only really took a hold over here in the UK last year, although I haven’t heard mention of it this year so far, so I don’t really know that it ever caught on!

The ‘Jane Austen’ cover book is not my general type of reading and probably isn’t something I would buy for myself. However, as a gift it is an amazing choice of ‘coffee table’ book and I would love to own a copy. Some of the cover illustrations are gorgeous and the presentation is beautiful. Your sister obviously has good taste 🙂

I’m not really into making little knick knacks or gifts, be they knitted or crocheted, but knowing you I’m sure it won’t be long before the pictures of your latest projects appear in a post. Now that lovely fan stitch crochet pattern is much more my thing and I think that even with my limted skillis I might be able to manage it.

Thanks for sharing your week in such a lovely post and ‘Happy Reading’ for this week 🙂

    Yvonne

    • Thank you Yvonne. The elf on the shelf is too cute to resist. I got one a few years ago, but my kids were already too old to believe in the ‘magic’ of it but I still would bring him out during December as part of the decorations.
the Jane Austen book is a nice coffee table book like you mention. I have been enjoying browsing through it and seeing all the different Austen covers throughout the years.
I’ll hopefully be adding more rows onto the fan stitch wrap this weekend as we are expecting some snow.

Have a great weekend and happy reading as well 🙂

  2. I have been more and more interested in book covers. They are so interesting look at and to analyze. Thus the book of Jane Austen covers looks so interesting.

I wonder if there are similar collections for other famous authors.

    • Thank you Iliana. I will post a finished pic once I am done with it. Happy book shopping! I’m trying to get over to Barnes this weekend to grab a few bookish Christmas gifts. I know I won’t be able to resist buying something for myself while I am there 🙂

  4. Your crocheting looks so pretty! I love it. I haven’t done much knitting this year but I have been getting back into it slowly, and I’d love to be more talented at crochet.
The Sarah Morgan book looks cute. Have a great week!

  5. The Jane Austen book looks really good. I recently read Persuasion, and I think Anne Elliot has become my favorite Austen character so far 🙂 Not to mention that love letter at the end…
