Happy Sunday. Today is my son’s birthday so it is one of my favorite days of the year. 🙂 I tend to get misty eyed when my kid’s birthday’s roll around. It feels like time is passing by so quickly.

Well, after a week of unseasonably hot weather, it has finally cooled off a little bit. I love the summer though so I can’t complain. I took the pic above at the gardens near us, I enjoy strolling through there, it is very peaceful and picturesque. There are benches here and there but people mostly throw a blanket down and just lay out.

The weather has been nice for walking my dogs also. They get so excited when I get home from work, I can barely put my things away because they are whining to go out. It seems like they have me well-trained lol.

Reading wise this week I finished up reading Sunset in Central Park, my review will be up in a day or so. It was nice contemporary romance. Last week I reviewed Gulp by Mary Roach and the author actually replied to my Tweet about her book which was really neat.

Hubby recently replaced my original Nook which died a few weeks ago. The new one is really nice, I’ve stocked it up with a few NetGalley books already. Please don’t judge me. I was able to transfer all my books over from the original Nook under my Barnes n Noble account so that was convenient.

Secrets of the Dead (Detective Robyn Carter crime thriller series Book 2) by Carol Wyer and Two Nights by Kathy Reichs all arrived via NetGalley.

On a crochet note, I finished up my sister in laws color pooled blanket this week. I’m trying small projects next, I need a break from such a large project. You can’t see the size here but this one is about 50″ long by 40″ wide.

That’s about it for now. I was listening to Lana Del Rey this morning as I blog hopped and worked on my blog posts.
I’ll close with one of my favorites of hers. Her voice has a dreamlike quality to it, I like it. Enjoy your Sunday! What are you up to? What are you reading?

    I just listened to the Lana Del Rey clip, as I haven’t come across her name before. I totally agree about the dreamlike clarity of her voice and I shall certainly be on the lookout for any of her CD’s so that I can introduce her singing to hubbie.

    The weather has just started to warm up over here in the UK, with a virtually cloudless week ahead and summerlike temperatures to boot! Up until now it has been very mixed with some rain and rather chilly winds, so maybe a short summer burst will encourage people to shop for some of the great lighter weight clothing we have filled our racks with!

    The blanket is stunning and I really will get around to checking out the colour pooled effect, but I just haven’t had the time up until now. The colour mix is very eye-catching and deserves to be noticed!!

    • Hi Yvonne. Lana Del Rey has a nice voice, glad you enjoyed the clip. We’ve had some warm weather here too, this week it’s supposed to cool down some. The warm weather usually brings people out to shop, so yes hopefully they will stop by there.

      Thank you, I enjoyed crocheting the blanket with the pooling technique. The repetition of the stitches is really relaxing to work with, but with pooling you have to make sure you are looking at the work or else the pattern might stray. It’s interesting the way it works.

      We had such a nice fresh strawberry and custard filled birthday cake for my son today covered in whipped cream. Just talking about it …I think I’ll get a second slice in a few minutes to have with some tea 🙂

  6. Happy Birthday to your son. We have had a similar weather experience in New York, it was really hot here but now it has cooled down.

    Have fun with the new Nook! As much as I try to stay neutral in the Ebooks verses traditional books debate, I must confess to loving e -readers.

    • Thanks you Brian. We probably had similar weather this week, today was so nice in the 70’s.
      I like the new Nook, I miss my old one though still, I was so used to it. This one is slightly different since they have revamped it. I was so against e-readers too, but when hubby bought me the original Nook years ago, I converted so easily lol.
