Sunday Post 6/4/17 Netflix, Crochet and Currently Reading

Happy Sunday everyone, it is a gorgeous morning here in Jersey. We are supposed to get rain around noon though so I think I’ll go read outside a little after I’m finished with this post. I planted sunflowers this week on one of the sunny days and I have got my fingers crossed with those. It has been a few years since I planted them. They can be so delicate the first few weeks, once they sprout if a hard rainfall comes, forget it, they die crushed by the rain. I use the mammoth sunflower seeds and there are years they grow to over six feet tall, then some summers they don’t make it at all. I also planted my usual marigold, morning glory and zinnia seeds a few weekends ago. Those I plant each summer and are they are easier to grow. I’ll share pics once they bloom.

On a different note, I was hooked on a Netflix Documentary called The Keepers this past week and I watched all seven episodes in two days. It’s hard to say that I recommend this real crime documentary because it is very disturbing especially the first hand accounts of victims, but if you like watching real crime dramas unfold, yes I recommend it.

Some of it is hard to watch as it deals with the 1969 unsolved murder of two women, one being a young nun. It also centers around a pedophile/rapist priest and the conspiracies and cover-ups surrounding this case. This documentary was really emotional I even teared up a little. All these years later, this nun’s former students who are grandmothers now, set up a Facebook page and are trying to find any information on her murder. I went to Catholic school myself from grades K-12 so it just really I don’t even know how to word it, it is disturbing for anyone to watch, Catholic school alumni or not but I guess it just resonated with me since I went myself.

Anyway on a lighter note, the crochet in the photo above is of my current project, a shrug I’m trying to work up. I’m using Simply Soft yarn in an icy blue color but it looks dark in the picture due to the dim lighting and the Nook lighting behind it. This is the real color in natural sunlight below.

I’m trying to make a granny square shrug. My cubicle at work is directly underneath an air conditioning vent, so that inspired this project because I am usually always cold at work. Although I always bring an extra cardigan with me, I thought I’d like to whip up a cozy shrug too. I may actually whip up a little neck scarf next also.

Reading wise, I dove into An Almond for a Parrot by Wray Delaney which is good so far, I’m only about 45 pages or so in.
Last week I finished up Crescendo by Amy Weiss and it was amazing, my review is here if you are interested. The author re-tweeted me which was awesome, I love when that happens. And her dad, who is also a writer, re-tweeted me too. *yay*

That about covers it for now. I’ve been looking for something good to watch on Netflix next. Any recommendations? I’m looking for documentaries or a series. Hubby says I watch way too much crime drama, but he needs to mind his own business. j/k I just remind him he watches too much Sports Center/ESPN and then we move on with our day. And when all else fails, there’s always Snapped which they tend to play it for several hours almost daily so catching an episode or two is easy when I have the time. I actually watched the first episode of 13 Reasons Why last weekend but it hasn’t grabbed me like I hoped it would. I may keep watching though.
