Sunday Post 6/11/17 Margaritas, Books and Yarn

sundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Happy Sunday, it is gorgeous here in Jersey this weekend. It feels like real June summertime these past few days with temps in the 90’s. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts because the forecast is saying rain for the end of this upcoming week and the entire next weekend. I figured I’d get my Sunday Post up early today before I head out to a yearly craft/arts/food outdoor festival that we like to visit.

It has been hectic at work so it was a slow reading week for me. I’m still reading An Almond for a Parrot, slowly though.

Most days after work I’ve been watching Sons of Anarchy and crocheting, so my reading has taken a hit this past week. My blog hopping has been slow as well but I will be catching up with that later this evening and seeing what you all have been up to. When I get too busy at work, I can’t really focus on reading at home because my mind has been running all day. The repetition of the stitches when I’m crocheting is the perfect way to relax and unwind. It is definitely yarn yoga.

Thanks for the Netflix recommendations last Sunday Post by the way 🙂 I’ve added a few new shows to my list of things to watch.

I do have two blog tour guest posts and two blog tour reviews coming up in July and early August, with Authoright, Poetic Book Tours and Sourcebooks Casablanca, so I’m excited to share those with you all.

Author guest posts for The Book of Air and Poetry And Ponderings are among the ones I’ll be featuring here.

I finished up my granny square shrug this week, once I wash and block it I’ll share a pic. I already want to make another one so I headed out to the yarn shop for a few more skeins. I really enjoy strolling through the yarn aisles, there are so many options and then I start to think of new things I want to crochet. I was able to buy two large skeins for the price of one with a coupon I had so it worked out great. I love a good bargain.

Lastly, I enjoyed having margaritas with a girlfriend recently. I like the old-fashioned frozen ones with salt on the rim. There’s an authentic Mexican restaurant I go to for these, they have margaritas on tap and the food is fantastic. Ugh just talking about it, I already want another one. This is the regular sized one, but they also make LARGE ones.

Enjoy your Sunday, happy reading. What are you up to today?

  1. I am looking forward to your upcoming comments on the books that you have finished.

I am on Long Island and the weather has also been beautiful here.

Those margaritas look good. I am looking for something to drink later today myself 🙂

    Have a great Sunday!

  2. It’s supposed to be 90’s here all week too. Yay for summer! lol

I’ve never seen Sons of anarchy but it is on my list to binge one of these days.

  3. I hope you have fun at the festival! I am glad your weather has been so pleasant as of late. It was pretty cool out today, even some dark clouds about, but they seem to be passing without and dripping on us. Sounds like you’ve been busy as of late. Work for me has been very stressful recently. I am trying not to think about having to go back in tomorrow. And it is Mouse’s final week of school for the year, so we have a few end of the school year stuff going on. I hope you have a great week, Naida!

    • Hi Wendy, the festival was really nice and we’ve had warm weather for a few weeks here now still with sudden thunderstorms but that’s ok. I hope all is well with the little one and work isn’t too stressful. I can totally relate! Enjoy your weekend 🙂

  4. Happy Sunday, Naida! We had a cool and cloudy, “New England” weekend here. Today we went to a baseball game in San Diego. It was warm in the sun but it hasn’t gotten too hot yet (it will before too long). I always enjoy seeing your crochet work. Yarn yoga is a great description. 🙂
Have a terrific evening, and a great week ahead! 🙂

    • Hi Susan, yes the summer here started off cooler and rainier than usual too but now it’s warmed up. The baseball game sounds like fun! Enjoy your weekend friend 🙂

  5. It’s been in the 90s here, too, but I’m not very happy about it. We don’t have air conditioning, and my computer tends to overheat while I’m working. That margarita photo is making me crave Mexican food. It’s been too long since I had any.

  6. Having a warm spell here also though rain is forecast in the next day or two.

My friend recently bought me a colouring – an adult one of course – which I find relaxes my mind in much the same way.

  7. After my week at work (I know, it’s only Tuesday!) I wish I had a margarita like that! 🙂
Can’t wait to see your shrug and that’s great that you scored a bargain at the yarn store! Hope you have a great week ahead.

    • Hi Iliana. Oh gosh, I want another margarita soon…lol. They are so summery. I finished the shrug but I haven’t taken pics yet. I need to take a few photos of it. I started on a new summer top and am actually almost finished with that one.
      Enjoy your weekend!

  8. Same here. I’ve been busy traveling this last two weeks and have been struggling to read and keep up with blogging but I’m planning to catch up.
I hope you enjoy the one you’re currently reading. Have a wonderful week. 😁

  9. Hi Naida,

Loving the notion of ‘Yarn Yoga’, although I can’t remember the last time I picked up any yarn, or added anything to my current project. It is very unusual, in fact I would say almost impossible, to find such a great wool shop as that in your picture. It is almost like a ‘library of wool’ and I would be in seventh heaven given a few hours inside and an unlimited amount of money to spend!

I have committed to so many blog tours, promotions and reviews, that I can’t keep up with all the post preparation, let alone get on top of it and I am worried to death that I am going to miss a date somewhere along the way!

I hope that you are still enjoying ‘An Almond For A Parrot’, I shall keep an eye out for your final Goodreads rating and comments 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne. I love visiting any yarn shop, and that one has three aisles 🙂
I can relate, I said yes to a few blog tours in July and August myself and have been triple checking my emails and getting the posts dates settled so I don’t forget.
I was halfway through An Almond For A Parrot and picked up I Am Legend instead because I started to lose interest. I have to get back to it again.
I hope you are well and enjoying the weekend!
