The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Happy Sunday all and Happy 4th of July weekend. Summer is in full swing here with high temps although we do still have alot of rain as well. I’ve been away from blogland for a few weeks due to the usual busy workdays, my family and now the summer weather beckons so I’ve been enjoying it as much as I can. The beach photos in this post are from our recent mini-vacation. That sunset stole my breath away the two nights we were away at the beach. It is nice to stop and just enjoy the beauty found in nature.

On a bookish note, I fully blame work on my lack of reading these last few weeks, sitting at the computer all day crunching numbers just leaves my eyes and my brain too tired to focus on reading when I get home. I did manage to read I Am Legend last week and it was a good one. I randomly picked it up off my shelves in an attempt to get back on reading track. Hopefully I can enjoy reading more when I’m on vacation this summer.

I want to read these books in July:
texas
Knight on the Texas Plains (Texas Heroes book 1) by Linda Broday is due for review on August 1st so I need to get to it. It looks good.

almond
I started reading An Almond for a Parrot by Wray Delaney then stopped midway so I want to pick it back up and finish it.

orange
I need to get back to OITNB which I also left midway in May. I want to finish it up.
I also have a few books on my Nook from NetGalley that I need to get to as well before they expire.

On a crochet note, I have been watching Sons of Anarchy and crocheting most evenings which has been nice. I watched the newest season of Orange is the New Black  and found it disappointing and highly unbelievable. I think it’s time for that one to get all wrapped up. I finished up my granny square shrug and I need to take a picture of it to share.

On a beachy note, as I mentioned, we went on a mini-vacation recently and it was so much fun. While staying at the beach we visited an Alpaca farm. It’s free to visit, they give each person a bag of carrots and a host takes you to meet and feed the alpacas. There is a small shop on the premises where you can purchase wool that comes from the alpacas on the farm or you can buy items made from their wool. They also had other varities of wool for sale. When I researched the place online, they had me at “alpacas” and “wool shop”.  I bought a few skeins of tan wool from one named Anabelle Lee. I definitely want to go back, hopefully next summer.

The alpacas were so cute. We found out that they only have teeth on bottom and they need to live in at least pairs of two or they die of loneliness. Also, they spit when they are mad, but they give warning sounds first. They can get riled up and mad if they begin to fight over food but thankfully we didn’t get spit on lol. The black ones in this photo below are sisters and were the bossiest of the bunch. There were 18 alpacas living on this farm.

This is the wool I purchased while there, it is so soft. You get a photo of the alpaca whose fleece the wool was spun from. I’m thinking of whipping up a cowl for the winter with this.

That wraps it up for now. Enjoy your weekend, what are you doing? Reading?

  1. It is good to see you posting again, Naida. I know all too well how work can impact our reading and blogging. Ugh. I am so glad though you were able to get away to the beach, even if for a short time. I love your photos! Thank you for sharing. This weekend has been a relatively quiet one for us. Mouse had her dance class and we put together a pool for us to use this summer. It’ll come in handy for the 4th of July. 🙂

I hope you have a great week!

  3. I also have not been reading enough. I also have been spending too many hours at work.

I would like to read Orange is the New Black. I have not seen the television show but it looks good.

    Alpacas are neat animals.
