Sunday Post 8/20/17 summer updates, books and crochet

sunday (249x249)
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Happy Sunday everyone, I cannot believe we are nearing the end of August. I feel like the older I get, the faster time flies. I’m excited for the Fall though, it’s one of my favorite seasons. That’s Otis above after a recent trip to the groomers.

I haven’t been on blogland too much, the summer weather beckons and so did Sons of Anarchy for the past few weeks. I finished watching the series this week and I have to admit, I shed a few tears. This show has been the perfect remedy for long days at the office because when I get home I need to just not think anymore. Crunching numbers all day is exhausting. I’ve also been watching American Ripper on the History Channel. It’s very good. They are setting out to try and prove that H.H. Holmes a.k.a. America’s first serial and Jack the Ripper were actually the same person. It is an interesting theory. Speaking of H.H. Holmes, Netflix has a documentary on him that was worth the watch.

Reading-wise I don’t have much to share, I will be reviewing  Knight on the Texas Plains by Linda Broday soon. It was a sweet one. I still need to finish up two books, and did pick up OINTB last night again so I’m determined that will be this week’s read. I’m more than halfway through.

Crochet-wise I finished up a few projects including this shawl. This yarn is great, it’s Unicorn by Lionbrand. The colors are pretty and it is so soft and light.

I also whipped up a butterfly last week and ended up adding pink fringe and turning it into a bookmark.

I’ll leave you with a pic of the chocolate icebox pie I recently had in NYC. Oh my gosh, this pie is one of my favorite desserts at a BBQ restaurant we like to visit in the city. It’s a little slice of chocolate heaven.

  1. The chocolate icebox is so YUMMY. Oh I’m hungry. I need to watch The Son of Anarchy. Been hearing great things about it but haven’t had the time to start yet. Anyway, enjoy your book and have a wonderful week. 😁❤️

  2. Hi Naida,

I love the crocheted shawl, that wool looks amazing!

The butterfly is so cool and must look great as a bookmark.

OITNB probably isn’t one for me, although I shall definitely be recommending it to a friend who I know will engage with it totally!

Finally, what’s not to love about a good slab of chocolate anything, and of course, the handsome Otis!

Sorry I have taken so long to catch up with my blog hopping, but thanks for not giving up on me 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne. That yarn is a new favorite. I’d love to make a hat with it too.
No need to apologize, I can totally relate. I take mini breaks from blog hopping here and there. There’s never enough time in the day and I don’t want blogging to feel like work. It’s nice to catch up though and it makes me want to read more.
I could actually go for a slice of that chocolate pie now lol.
      Enjoy your week!

  3. It really is near the end of August now. How did that happen?! I haven’t yet read Orange is the New Black, but I do enjoy the show. I’m about a season behind on the show right now. The Unicorn by Lionbrand is gorgeous and I love your little butterfly. 🙂

I hope you have a great week, Naida!

    • Hi Wendy. I know! Summer is nearly gone in the blink of an eye. I’m almost done with OINTB and it’s pretty good, but the show is better I think. I’m all caught up with the seasons although I wasn’t crazy about the last season.
Thanks for popping in and enjoy the rest of your summer!
