Sunday Post: It’s beginning to look alot like Christmas

sunday (249x249)
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Merry Merry everyone. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Otis says Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. That little holiday hat looks like I photo-shopped it on him, but he’s actually wearing it. He stays perfectly still when I put it on..lol. Like he knows mom is a little crazy but that’s life. 🙂

It has been a hectic week here, next year I will save some vacation time for this time of the year, it is so needed. We had snow this week and although it is pretty to look at, the timing was impeccable. It both snowed during my morning work commute and during my drive home this week bumping my 45 minute drive to about one hour.

This past Friday night I went to see the new Star Wars movie with my daughter. We enjoyed it, the early showings were sold out so we ended up getting tickets to the last show and didn’t get home until after 1 a.m. It was worth it.

Yesterday I had hoped to run a few errands and get my groceries done and bake Christmas cookies, yes I know I was aiming high lol. I don’t know if it’s from all the running around this week, but I woke up with a migraine that left me most of the day in bed, so nothing was accomplished. Everything happens for a reason though and my body was definitely telling me I needed to rest. I hope to head out to the grocery store later on today.

Thankfully my Christmas shopping is done since I did it early and mostly online and we put the tree up last week so it has really been work that has been draining me lately. There’s construction going on at our building and they moved us to a different section for now and it’s been a stressful couple of weeks. I work in a very busy department but I have some great co-workers and that lightens up the workday and it makes all the difference.

Speaking of online shopping, shout out to Maurices. I told hubby I wanted new boots for Christmas. The way we work it is I pick some things out and he pays, this way I get exactly what I want, which were these. They fit perfectly and arrived in time and are under the tree already. Thank you boo 🙂

Bookwise, I am reading A Christmas Promise by Mary Balogh. I’ve had this one since last Christmas and I can only read holiday books during the season so I figured I’d get to it now.

I’ve got some qualms with the hero, but he’s redeeming himself as the story goes along so overall it is turning out to be a nice holiday read. I also have two more Christmas books to get to after this one, No One Has Sex on Christmas Day and Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery.

That about covers it for now. How are your holidays coming along? What are you reading? Enjoy your week xo

  1. I love the snow just not driving in it! We have a fair amount and it’s been cold, but it makes it feel Christmasy too. 🙂

Glad you liked the Star Wars movie! I saw it too and while it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for, it had some definite moments. And it’s good to see Star Wars again!

    Have a super week!

    • It is definitely nice to see Star Wars again, the first three are my favorites, I like rewatching those . I love a pretty snowfall too when I’m cozy at home.
      Enjoy your holidays!

  2. Hi Naida,

Christmas time in the retail trade is always super hectic, so I haven’t had much free time lately. I fact I just finished a 12 day straight working stint of 8 hours a day. I managed a full 8 hours of sleep last night and only popped in for a couple of hours today, just to ease the potential workload for tomorrow morning. We have just spent a nice couple of hours at a neighbours house for pre-Christmas drinks and nibbles and I am about to try and get a few pesents wrapped.

I am not a huge fan of the Star Wars series, even though hubbie is, so he will probably wait for it to come out on DVD, then watch it on our home cinema screen in comfort. I was just reading on the BBC that the film generated more than $450m (£337m) in global ticket sales on its opening weekend.

I love the new boots, although they just wouldn’t do for me as I have arthritis in my feet and toes and have difficulty bending my foot into such a rigid shoe. I am working on a rigid weight loss programme for the New Year, in the hope that whilst the problem can’t be fixed, the damage and pain can at least be managed.

I don’t mind reading books out of season if the story line is one which interests and intrigues me. However, I generally find seasonal books a bit too lightweight for my taste. I hope that you enjoy your little mini challenge to read your Christmas stories during the holiday season and that you enjoy them.

If we don’t speak again beforehand, have a lovely Christmas 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne. Wow, work sounds busy and yes, it’s crazy how hectic this time of year gets with the shopping and the traffic.

Star Wars never seems to die out, it’s fan base keeps growing plus the older fans stay die hard. It’s a lot of fun watching and seeing what they come up with in the newer films.
I agree, nothing beats watching in the comfort of your own home.
I’m sorry to hear that, arthritis is so painful, I hope your plan helps ease the pain.

Have a Merry Christmas too, I should be doing some blog hopping this weekend and getting a review up. 😊

  3. Sorry to hear about your migraine. My wife also gets debilitating ones too.

I am on Long Island and I also got hit with the snow on my drive home on Friday. I have not yet seen the new Star Wars but I will likely see it this week.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you, your family and to Otis!

    • Thank you Brian, it’s definitely painful and when I get the aura ones, forget it, it’s very disorienting too.
Enjoy the Star Wars movie if you get to see it and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones also! 😊

  5. Isn’t Otis adorable?! I am sure you are looking forward to a bit of time off so you can enjoy with your family. You are going to be styling in those boots – too cute!

  6. I’m really, really hoping for a white Christmas this year but so far we haven’t gotten much of anything yet. Fingers crossed though! I love that cover for the Balogh book – I’ve read a book by her before and enjoyed it so I will be looking forward to your thoughts when you finish. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday!

  7. I hope you’re having a merry Christmas and have a wonderful new year. I haven’t yet watched The Last Jedi, but I finally got around to seeing Rogue One and enjoyed it (my favorite character there is Cassian Andor – Diego Luna was great).
