I’ve been wanting to participate in Bout of Books for a few years now but I never seem to get my butt in gear and I nearly missed it this time again. Literally, I got home from work today, let the dogs out, tidied up the living room while my daughter told me all about her day and am now sitting at my computer typing my post up while the baked ziti I prepared is in the oven. I didn’t want to miss out.
I like reading challenges because I find them a great way to get motivated to read more plus it is a nice way to discover new book blogs.
Here are the read-a-thon details…
“The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 8th and runs through Sunday, January 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 21 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team”
This will be my sign up post and I will update throughout the week as I read. I am on page 255 of 370 of The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare. My goal is to finish that one up and then read one full book after that.
**This is the overall list for the challenges offered during Bout of Books 21. Make sure you check the blog each day of the read-a-thon for instructions and details on how to complete the daily challenges**
read so far: Finished reading The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare (115 pages read) I didn’t want to set this aside so I made finishing it part of the read-a-thon. LOVED it!! Review to come soon.
I am on page 106 of The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman and he has me mesmerized. I hope to finish this one tonight.

2. Visit my favorite Indie bookshop, it has been too long.
3. Get back to the library.
4. Start listening to audio books again.
5. Cull my book shelves and donate a bunch of my books to the library.
Book spine rainbow. Here is my book spine rainbow. Come to think of it, I think I will take a similar pic like this one and make it my blog header. I’ll use my favorite books.
ALL THE FAVORITES!
Book spine poetry: Dear John, roses have thorns before I fall waiting on you, beautiful bastard.
Leave a book review. I will post my review of the Gaiman book this upcoming week since I like to use Sundays for my weekly updates post.
