Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 3/11/18: Chatting Books, Yarn and More Snow

sunday (249x249)mm

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope everyone had a nice week. I can’t believe it is Sunday already, why does the weekend fly by so fast?
We had another snowstorm this week, the worst one of the season. The good thing is we had a snow-day mid-week, the bad thing was all the shoveling and having to commute to work in bad conditions after it was all said and done. Work remains hectic as ever and will continue to be that way throughout March with working later hours every day now. Thank you all for your words of encouragement, I appreciate it 🙂

This was the view from my backyard the morning after the storm. It was so pretty to look at. We got around 22 inches by me. Thankfully we only lost power for about 20 minutes and had just a few fallen tree limbs in the backyard but no damage. A few of my co-workers are still without electricity.

I shared my thoughts on Thirsty: An Eastside Brewery Novel by Mia Hopkins
I had some qualms with this one but it was a solid read overall. The author tweeted me after reading my review yesterday which was so nice of her.

I also posted my thoughts on Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase which was awesome.

I want to finish up Louisiana Catch by Sweta Srivastava Vikram this week.

Crocheting:
I am done with my neon stripes pooled blanket and will share pics when I take them. I wanted to take a few photos of it outside in natural lighting. Maybe I will do that today.

In My Mailbox:
No books in my mailbox this week, just yarn. I bought a few skeins of this yarn past week at the craft store. I couldn’t resist so I am working up a wrap with it. It is Premier Sweet Roll Yarn – “Rocket Pop“. Premier Yarns offers free patterns here at their website if anyone is interested.

Oh, and Otis was freshly groomed last Saturday. He does okay at the groomers, he understands what it is to go there…lol. His groomer says he is very easy and lets them do their job. They scent him like watermelon afterwards.

That wraps up my updates for now. How was your week?  xo

  1. We also had the snow. I got caught commuting in it. This was an odd one as while we only got about five inches, the nature of the storm made the roads seem more like it was 12 on roads.

    Hopefully spring will come soon.

  2. Wow, 22 inches of snow? I think I’d cry if we got that much, lol. The pics are beautiful though, especially the one with the snow covering the trees.

I look forward to seeing what you make with your new yarn. Love the colors.

Aww, Otis looks so cute. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  3. Looks like the same week I have had. A week without power, it’s very frustrating. I just got back home Saturday. I am still all out of sorts. I hope you have a better week.

  4. Wow that’s a lot of snow! I especially love that last pic! So beautiful when it’s all white, but yeah no fun driving in. We had a snow day too, but didn’t get nearly as much snow as you did!

Have a great week and happy reading!

    • Yes right? And it snowed on and off again this week, just a few inches but still enough to have to get up earlier for the commute. Have a great week too!

  5. Oh my goodness. All that snow looks wonderful in the picture, I’m sure shoveling and driving in it was no fun though. That kind of weather is perfect for reading and knitting though.

    • lol yes it is. We don’t stop over here where I am from, but down South, the Carolina’s, Virginia… etc…I’ve heard they do stop alot for a little bit of snow. Enjoy your week!

  6. Otis is adorable (and looks like he knows it!) The snow is gorgeous; part of me is envious, while the other part of me sympathizes with the challenges of getting around in the snow. But I’m glad you didn’t lose power for long. That’s no fun in cold weather. Have fun knitting up your wrap! Those long color change yarns are fun to work with. Have a great week!

    • Thank you, yes Otis is a spoiled one. I am looking forward to spring, I just want sunshine and warmth. I started playing around with the yarn and I will be posting pics as I go. Enjoy your week!

  8. Hi, Naida. The snow is beautiful but I hope your spring weather arrives soon! Otis is too cute, and the watermelon scent sounds very nice. (I have a “warm vanilla” scented shampoo for our dog but have yet to try it.) Have a great week ahead!

  9. OMG a watermelon scented pup.. too cute! I love that picture of your neighborhood with all that snow. I cannot imagine. We had to turn on the A/C yesterday. Crazy and too soon. Have a great week!

  10. More snow for us here in the UK too, although thankfully not as much as you seem to have had – your pictures made it all look pretty anyway.

Theses days, we are just so unused to snow down here in the south of the country, that it always catches us unawares. Although when we were kids it seemed as though winters were made up of nothing but snowy days! I am usually a fan of the winter months, but even I am longing for spring to finally arrive.

I love the new yarn and will be interested to see how this one makes up.

Thanks for sharing and I hope the snow all cleared away as quickly as it arrived 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne, this winter has definitely been a tough one weatherwise. We are expecting another snow storm for tomorrow when the snow from this last time hasn’t all melted yet. At least today is the first day of Spring so there is an end in sight.
I hope you are doing well and thanks for stopping in 😉
