Sunday Post 4/1/18 Hello April!

sunday (249x249)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

I don’t know about you but I am happy that April is here and Spring is finally in the air. It has been nicer around here these few days and the temps are getting into the mid 50’s. Happy Easter and Happy Passover to those who celebrate and happy weekend to all. 🙂

”And he departed from our sight that we might return to our heart, and there find Him. For He departed, and behold, He is here.”-St Augustine

Here are my updates….

I had a great reading and crocheting week but my blogging lagged (because I was busy reading and crocheting) so this morning I will be playing catch up on blog-land.

Review coming up this week:

cats
My review of Dumpling Cats: Crochet and Collect Them All! will be up this in a few days. I loved this pattern book which came via NetGalley, I ended up making two cats and will be making more. So cute. There is even a pattern for cat with a little mermaid tail which I want to make.

This is a sneak peek of one of the cats I crocheted:

Reading-wise:

I finished re-reading Pet Sematary by Stephen King this week which is impressive for me because it was 562 pages long and I breezed right through it. This book helped get me through the workweek. It is always great to have a good book to look forward to. My thoughts on it are here. This put me at 9 books read so far this year which is a personal best as last year I was at 5 books read by the end of March and I didn’t get anything read in April. I am aiming to read 4 books in April and the 24 Hour Read-a-Thon  starts on April 28th so that should be good incentive.

Currently Reading:

I don’t have new books in the mail this week since I am trying to get through my TBR mountain and not add to it for now, but now I am reading In Places Hidden (Golden Gate Secrets) by Tracie Peterson which arrived for review a few weeks back. It is very good already and I plan on finishing it up in a few days.

And lastly, the donuts we got in at work this week.  Hmmmm Krispy Kreme. The woman I work with was selling them by the dozen for a fundraiser.

That covers it for now. What are you up to? I’ll be baking a Bunny Cake and cooking for Easter dinner at home with my family today. Enjoy your weekend 🙂

  1. I’m so happy that the warmer weather is finally here too! Congrats on reaching a personal best with your reading so far this year. I love achieving goals like that.

Your crocheted cat is precious and those donuts look amazing! Hope you have a wonderful week 🙂

    • Well, it snowed again here so I spoke too soon….lol. I will post pics next Sunday updates! Mother Nature isn’t finished with winter this year.
      Have a great week 🙂

  2. The weather here has been anything but Springlike for the Easter weekend. The rain has been relentless and many of the gardens, National Trust properties etc. have been closed as the mud has been so bad and dangerous, not to mention car parks waterlogged. Not good for the people who had gone to so much trouble orgainising Easter Egg Hunts!

As it is almost time to get dinner prepared here, your doughnuts are making me feel hungry. We have been on our own today, so will probably not go mad with an elaborate meal and we are both making a determined effort not to eat so much sugar from now on, so not so many tempting pictures please 🙂

As you probably remember, I’m not so keen on cats, so perhaps a crocheted dog or two would be nice?

This pattern book looks so cute!

Enjoy the rest of your day and I hope the Tracie Peterson book is as good as it sounds 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne. I have seen the Edwards Menagerie books and they are too cute. I had one provided via NetGalley way back but didn’t get a chance to make anything.
The Tracie Peterson is very good so far, I am enjoying the historical mystery.
I hope you had a nice, quiet Easter and that the rain has let up. It snowed again here yesterday so it seems winter won’t quit. We are expecting more Friday into Saturday.
lol the donuts are getting some mixed reactions…I’ll try to reign in the tempting dessert pics and post Otis instead. 🙂
      Enjoy your week!

    • Yay I love Krispy Kreme too but we have none near us, so getting these was a real treat. Enjoy your week! It snowed again here yesterday about 3-4 inches. Winter isn’t quitting.

  5. Those dumpling cats are the cutest things ever. I want one! Congrats on getting so much reading done. I’m looking forward to the readathon, but my dog is getting surgery the day before it, so I don’t know how much reading I’ll actually get done. Have a great week!

  6. OMG how cute or those cats tho…Adorable. I can not eat those donuts – way to sweet for me. It’s like licking sugar. YUCK. Glad you enjoyed them tho. Happy reading this week!

  7. Oh my god that cat is so cute! I wish I could crochet. I can never seem to get it though. I want to read Pet Semetary. I loved the movie.

  8. Hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday. I’m so happy April is here too. Our winter wasn’t bad but I feel like it’s time for renewal and to welcome new things! I’ve also been super behind on my blogging and reading but I think that always tends to happen to me in March. Yum – Krispy Kremes!

  9. Sounds like you’d a great week, Naida. I can’t believe April is here already. I just wish our weather here doesn’t get any hotter. Sigh.
