my thoughts:
Dumpling Cats: Crochet and Collect Them All! by Sarah Sloyer is so cute. It has become an instant favorite!
The patterns are well written, the photos are clear and helpful and I think fans of crocheting amigurumi would love having this book in their pattern collection. Each cat comes with its own name and little storyline. I crocheted “Chuck”. I made two of these and the pattern was easy to follow. I modified mine a little and omitted the legs making the tail a little longer to wrap around the body.

With simple patterns you can make really cute cats. There are plenty of patterns here to try, 25 total. There is a cat with a mermaid tail and one with flower petals around its head that I want to make as well. I’d say these patterns are for advanced beginners and onward.

Dumpling Cats: Crochet and Collect Them All! is a pattern book to be used again and again, I love it! Special thanks to NetGalley/Dover Crafts for my review copy.

  1. I admire the way you can adapt the patterns to suit your mood and if truth be told, I actually prefer the wrap around tail and no legs approach. Perhaps that is another crochet pattern you could submit and I am sure these would make great fillers for your ETSY site.

    I knew the style of the little critters looked famliar, but I didn’t connect the appearance with the tag-line, so it took you to point out the obvious – And after we used to get run ragged by our two nephews on Pokemon card searches, when they first appeared all those years ago 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne, thank you. I started making the legs then I didn’t like the way they looked so I opted out of them. I do want to make a few of these for Etsy, as these two are already on my daughters shelf.
      I don’t know anything really about Pokemon lol so the connection didn’t even dawn on me until after I crocheted these and re-read the blurb for this review.
