Sunday Post 4/8/18: My weekly updates and Mother Nature is very stubborn this year

sunday (249x249)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you are all doing well. I can’t believe it is time for Sunday updates already, this week flew right on by. It started off with a snowy Monday morning just in time for my work commute with around 3-4 inches of snowfall. The consensus around here was “Again?”.

It has been a cold and brisk weekend, but the sun is shining and I do hear the birds chirping even as I type this so I know Spring is in the air. Once it is a little warmer I like to get out and take care of my garden that has been neglected all winter.

Onto my updates….

Last week on the blog:
I posted my thoughts on Dumpling Cats Crochet and Collect Them All! by Sarah Sloyer which I loved. My review is here.

Currently reading:
I am now reading In Places Hidden (Golden Gate Secrets) by Tracie Peterson . This is a good historical mystery and has a little dose of romance as well. The heroine is a suffragette and I like reading strong female leads so I’ve been enjoying this one. I’m trying to finish it today.

We watched 50/50 which was sad but funny and we also watched It’s Complicated , which was hilarious. I loved It’s Complicated and was laughing out loud. Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin have great chemistry in this. I like romance centered around older couples so this was perfect. 50/50 deals with cancer and family and is infused with humor and I thought it was very good as well. *images are from wiki

Also of note…April is National Poetry Month. Click here for ideas on how to celebrate. I will be posting poetry throughout the month here at my blog. I used to do this on a regular basis since I love reading poetry, but then I got out of the habit of posting so I look forward to finding snippets to share from my favorite poets.

That covers it for now, what are you up to?

I’ll close with pics of the drinks and food from Friday night when hubby took me out after a long work week. This place has the best burgers and fries. Enjoy your weekend.

  1. I feel like summer and winter get longer and longer and soon enough autumn and spring won’t exist (although to be fair, spring is blink and you’ll miss it where I am anyway). I hope it warms up for you guy soon 🙂

  2. It’s Complicated is such a great movie. Glad you enjoyed it. And yes, Mother Nature really needs to make up her mind. It was in the 60s several days this past week here, but then we had more snow yesterday.

I hope you have a great week!

  3. Ooh, now I’m in the mood for burgers and brew!

I also loved the movie It’s Complicated…and have the DVD, so I watch it whenever I want.

I’m going to check out 50/50.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. Not crochet but I bought knitting needles and a ball of wool, that is as far as I have gotten, I may buy stuff for crochet…………..I just don’t know what to do, I am so uncreative.

Not read that author before and the snow! I love the photos, I love reading wrapped up but I do not love the chaos it causes!

  5. The threatened snow here over the Easter never happened, at least not down in the south. Now we have just had the biblical deluge of rain for the last couple of weeks, which has left flooding all over the place and made us all thoroughly damp and miserable! We had one sunny day last week and the shop was busy with people thinking about buying summer clothes, but that didn’t last too long!

With all the family matters we have had to deal with, following the recent death of my father-in-law, I haven’t had time to even think about picking up a book just lately, but I have set myself the goal of at least choosing my next read, before I go to bed tonight. I might try and make it something which has been in my TBR pile for some time.

It isn’t very often that I choose a burger when we go out to eat, as there are just too many other better sounding dishes on the menu and there are very few English restaurants who can manage to turn out a good burger. I know this may sound lame and I will probably raise a smile or too, but the best place to order a burger in my opinion, is at a TGI Friday restaurant. It is so nice to get treated to dinner out and I hope that you enjoyed your meal.

Happy Reading and have a good week 🙂

    • oh wow, so much rain! I hope you read something good next then and can enjoy the reading time. This place is a favorite for burgers, drinks and the atmosphere plus they know hubby and I since we are regulars since it’s close to home. It’s nice going a few times per month. You know I have never been to a TGI Friday? Enjoy your week 🙂

      • You haven’t missed that much by avoiding TGI Friday, but they do a good burger, at least it is good for a burger in this country, although you probably wouldn’t think so, given some of the gourmet US burger joints around 🙂

  6. Happy Sunday, Naida! I hope Spring will arrive on the east coast soon. Your winter has lasted a long time. The dumpling cats are adorable, and the burger and fries look really good. Have a terrific week!

  7. We can’t seem to get rid of the snow either! It was like 20 degrees here last night. But glad the sun was at least out- we did get a little sun over the weekend too.

    Yummy looking burger! 🙂

  8. I hope the spring weather sticks this time. Winter has not wanted to let go, has she? It’s actually quite warm here. In the low 90’s. Too hot for early April. I love the cover of Tracie Peterson’s novel. I hope you are enjoying it. National Poetry Month… I remembered on the 1st, but then forgot. Oh well. I’m so behind on everything blog related right now. I hope you have a great week!

    • In the 90’s is so hot, especially if its humid. I like a nice medium, like low 80’s. I like the cover on the Tracie Peterson book too, I am enjoying it. I know what you mean, I am so behind on blogland and don’t really get on here until the weekends to catch up. Enjoy your week too!

  9. I cannot believe how much snow is still coming down in so many places. We had a super cold day on Saturday and I had already put away my jackets! Much nicer now but still a bit unusual. Can’t wait to hear more of your current read. I love a mystery/romance mix. And of course looking forward to which poems/poets you share with us! I checked out several poetry books this weekend so I’m ready to jump into poetry!

    • Ugh with the snow, hopefully that is all for us now. It was in the 80’s yesterday and gorgeous out but today we are back to the 50’s again. I am almost finished with the Tracie Peterson book. I should have been done by now but was feeling unwell this week and when I am sick, I can’t read, I can sit and watch tv.
      Enjoy the poetry!

  10. I’m a bit late here but UGH I feel your pain with the weather lately. Today has been nonstop rain and they are talking about the possibility of snow yet again tomorrow. It is craziness and I can’t remember the last time April was this cold. I’m beyond ready for spring which is all I keep saying lately. It looks like you’ve been reading some great books though! I hope you had a great week Naida!

    • Ugh, no more snow! Yesterday it was in the 80’s finally and gorgeous out but today we are back to the 50’s. I cannot wait till summer is here and I can sit out in the yard with my book or my crochet and just soak in the sun.
      Enjoy your week!
