Happy Sunday everyone. The weeks are flying right on by and we are already halfway through April.

Yesterday the temps went up into the 80’s here and it was so nice to feel the warmth. We took our usual drive out to the nearby state park yesterday afternoon and sat out by the picnic benches near the creek for a little while then got ice-cream on the way home. I brought my crochet project along with me. It is quiet and peaceful there, perfect for reading or just sitting and talking. There is also a path to walk along and enjoy.

This is actually a star-shaped blanket I’m crocheting for my favorite aunt.  We were always close and although she moved to Florida we still keep in touch regularly. She’s been asking me if I could make her something for a while now and I never seem to get around to it. She was vague when I recently asked what she would like, saying “something for my bedroom”. So after thinking about it, I figured a blanket would be a nice gift. Her favorite color is pink. She doesn’t know what I am making, and I won’t be there to see her reaction when she sees her gift as I’ll be mailing it out to her but I hope she will like it. It’s very “her” if you know what I mean. She likes flowers so I started with a flower in the center and am continuing with the star shape for the rest in alternating colors.

My reading lagged this week since I was not feeling 100% and when I am sick I can’t focus on reading. I mainly watch tv instead. I’m still in the middle of In Places Hidden (Golden Gate Secrets) by Tracie Peterson and hopefully I can finish that one up soon.

I actually had to make a quick trip to the allergist before work mid-week as I woke up to one of my mystery skin reactions again on my face and neck. My face was feeling weird last Sunday and the tell-tale signs were there with the itchiness, but I was hoping it was just the pollen in the air doing it. It has happened before and is a real nuisance with the mild swelling on my face and the annoying rash that feels kind of like a prickly sunburn, but I am feeling better now. I spent three days at work with my face and neck smeared with Vaseline and the allergy cream he prescribed, so not looking my best there lol. I got a few strange looks. The allergy cream is strong so it causes more redness and makes you feel like your skin is on fire but it eventually works after about two days. That’s why I dilute it with Vaseline.

My allergist still recommends I get the skin patch test so we can figure out why it happens, but it is a 3 day process and I haven’t yet made the time for it. They put patches of possible skin allergens all on your back and you have to go to the allergist each day so they can gauge any reactions, but you can’t shower for the 3 days. And they don’t do it on weekends so it has to be weekdays and how inconvenient because there is no way I’m going to work without showering for 3 days straight. Hence, I haven’t done the patch testing yet.

Anyway onto my mailbox….

That about wraps it up for now. I’ll close with a picture of dessert. We went with friends to one of my favorite BBQ places on Friday night. For a minute there I was scared I’d have to cancel with not feeling so great, but by Friday I was feeling better so it was a nice way to end the week. I trekked out there with my shiny Vaseline face and enjoyed the evening. I always get the fried BBQ chicken with mashed potatoes and they have the best chocolate soufflé for dessert. They bake it there and bring it out warm in a little baking dish and top it with whipped cream and pecans. I found a recipe for it online and I want to try making it myself.
