Sunday Post 5/6/18: April Showers Bring May Flowers

sunday (249x249)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Happy Sunday, happy May! I can hear the raindrops falling on the windowsill as I type up today’s Sunday updates post. I love that sound.

Anyway, May is here, I like this month alot sans the allergies from the pollen etc. Flowers are blooming and the temps are nice, not sweltering hot just yet. I have had a serious case of Spring fever these last two weeks. I even went jogging with my youngest this week, which was great. We haven’t gone running in so long so it was nice to start getting back into it. I almost forgot how relaxed I feel afterwards. And we took a trip out to the Botanical Gardens in NYC as well, which was really wonderful. I love New York and drive in a several times a year. There is always something interesting to see and do there. The weather was in the 70’s for that and I just soaked it all in, the sunshine, the flowers….

Onto my bookish updates….

Last Week on the Blog:

I posted my thoughts on In Places Hidden by Tracie Peterson, which was very good.

I picked up my copy of Mr. Mercedes again this week. I actually tried reading this last summer while on vacation and I could not get past chapter two. I just couldn’t get into the story. So I’m giving it another go.

That covers my updates for now. I will close with pictures from my recent NYC trip. What are you up to? Reading? Enjoy your week xo

I forget what these little purple flowers were but they were tiny and dainty.  I stopped to snap a pic.

The conservatory also has a rain-forest room.

And finally, the view in the Holland tunnel. It always makes me claustrophobic. Plus, there was traffic in there but it’s worth the NYC trip.

  1. It is a long May Day holiday weekend here, and apparently the hottest ever on record. The heat is not kind to the late spring flowers, but we did manage to capture some pictures similar to your own of the cherry blossom and tulips. We also caught several shots like this in the bluebell woods …

Yes, they really were that stunning!

I don’t mind having to start a book for a second time, if I am just a few pages in and not really getting engrossed in the story, but after that I start to lose patience with both the book and myself! I hope that Mr. Mercedes comes together for you this time around.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and have a good week 🙂

    • Thanks Yvonne, Mr. Mercedes is good so far.
And wow, that looks like a great place to visit and see the Bluebells. Very pretty!
      Have a great week too.

  2. Ooh beautiful pics! Glad you had a great trip to NYC! I love spring and early summer before it gets super hot…

Hope the books are good! I saw a review for The Pisces this past week and it sounded pretty funny!

  3. I am also glad that it is May.

I have not read Mr. Mercedes but I usually like his books. I have not read any of his newer novels. I look forward to reading your thoughts on it.

  4. Those tulips were movie stars! I can’t believe that bonsai piece was over 70 years old. Amazing. I’m waiting for May showers. We’ve been having really windy days and sometimes overcast skies where it feels a bit muggy at 70°. It’s really weird here.

  5. Your photos are so gorgeous. I’d love to visit the NYC botanical gardens some day. I’m glad to hear that you’re getting out and enjoying the weather. 70s does sound like perfect weather for exploring in New York.

I hope your second attempt with Mr. Mercedes is more successful. I have that one on my shelf to read this year so we’ll see how it goes for both of us.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

  6. Always such lovely photos! Look at those blooms! I would love a little rain right now. It always rains when I’m at work, and I enjoy it much more when I spend a day at home. I have a bit of spring fever too. The timing is never right for that though. Ugh. I hope you have a great week, Naida!

  7. Naida,
My weekend was busy so I’m catching up in my blogging now (plus, my blog list doesn’t show updates in a timely fashion). Beautiful pics! I’ve been to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden but I haven’t seen the cherry blossoms there. Thanks for sharing these photos from your trip to NYC. I hope you will enjoy reading Mr. Mercedes. Sometimes it takes a while to get into a book, or a fresh attempt.

    • Hi Susan, that’s ok. I don’t follow my bloglist, I just click on my fav links and visit links in my comments section since I like to visit back.
I love NYC and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden was so nice. I want to visit the one in the Bronx someday also.
Mr. Mercedes is good so far this time, I’ve gotten further with it so I’ve got my fingers crossed.
      Enjoy your week!

  10. I have Mr Mercedes on my TBRM, hope you get on with it better this time. We are going to horrocon this weekend 😀 sure we will see some Pennywise, I will be taking piccys.

Cherryblossoms are beautiful, I hate the colour pink in all forms but there is no denying how beautiful the blossoms are when in bloom. xxx
