The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….
Happy Sunday everyone and wow, the last day of September is here. It does feel like Fall as we’ve got cooler mornings and evenings too although it is warm during the day. It is nice though, the cozy Fall evening weather. It makes for nice crochet/reading time.
I’ve had a busy work week but it was also uneventful so I can’t complain. And I chopped off a few inches of my hair at the salon this week and have it now just touching my shoulders. My hair grows fast but it is so much easier to maintain when it is shorter since it is thick curly/wavy.
This upcoming month is going to be a busy one for me. I have a few things going on but I did save one week of vacation for October and I am hoping to re-energize during that week.
Onto bookish things…. goodbye reading slump thanks to Mary Balogh. I picked up my copy of A Precious Jewel yesterday and I’m breezing right through it. I first read this author last December and although I wasn’t thrilled with some of that book, I knew this was an author whose writing I wanted to try again.
In my mailbox:
The Latecomers by Helen Klein Ross arrived via AmazonVine. What a gorgeous cover. I love flowers.
The Latecomers is a deeply moving family drama about a young Irish immigrant, an ancestral home in New England and a dark secret that lay hidden in its walls for five generations.
Also through Vine, Wrangler’s Challenge (Wind River Book 4) by Lindsay McKenna arrived. Lone Rider (Wind River Book 5) arrived over the summer but I included it in this photo because they are part of the same series. I think these two will be quick romance reads.
Do you like my Fallish props? You can expect to see them in my book pics a few times these next two months lol. That skeleton hand is a pen.
On the blog:
Reviewed (finally): Needful Things
.
Coming up: Fraterfest 2018 October 11-16th. I’m reading Rebecca.
Watching: I’m still watching the real haunting shows on tv like A Haunting and Paranormal Survivor and terrifying myself. I’m waiting for The Walking Dead to return this month so I can ball my eyes out when Rick leaves. I’ve also been watching AHS. And lest I forget, my Sunday nights are for snacking on chips and or chocolates and watching the drama unfold on 90 Day Fiancee, until The Walking Dead comes back of course, then I will catch up on 90 Day episodes later on during the week.
Crochet:
I wanted to make a Slytherin cowl and whipped one up this week. It is really nice and warm. I found that Simply Soft in Dark Sage and RedHeart With Love in Pewter are the perfect matches for the house colors.
That covers it for now, what are you doing? Watching? Reading? Enjoy your week 🙂

What lovely books! I do enjoy seeing a stack of new books…most of mine come as e-books.
I’ve never read Mary Balogh, so I must try some time. The Latecomers caught my eye.
Enjoy! Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

Have a wonderful week.

September really did seem to go fast. I am glad to hear that you are out of your reading slump. Sometimes one just has to come out of these things naturally. I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on Rebecca. My wife read it and liked it. I have been thinking of giving it a try.

The crochet looks amazing, as ever and I particularly like the pewter coloured wool.
I am a bit of a sucker for notebooks and pens, but I’m afraid that my pens are probably much more boring to look at than yours, as I really have to like the feel of it in my hand and like the look and neatness of the finished writing.
All of your new authors and books this week are new to me, but I really like the sound of ‘The Latecomers’.
I hope that you enjoy them all and especially ‘Rebecca’, which is one of my favourite books of all time!
Happy Reading 🙂

Hi Yvonne, thank you 🙂
I feel like writing cursive especially is a lost art. We had penmanship as a class when I was in grade school but they don’t teach that here anymore and my kids don’t know how to write in cursive. I myself still write that way.
I am looking forward to read Rebecca soon. Enjoy your weekend!

I am glad you were able to find a book to bring you out of it. I hope you have a wonderful October. Enjoy your week off!
