Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 1/21/19: Relaxing, reading etc.

sunday (249x249)mm

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….

Hello all, I am being lazy this week and my Sunday post is a day late, but that is okay. It is Monday morning and I’m cozy at home sipping my coffee and enjoying the extra day off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Winter Storm Harper came and went this weekend and it didn’t get us too bad at all. We got some snow but then mainly hail and rain so now things are iced over. It is a whopping 2 degrees out there today and very windy. I will not venture out at all today.

Onto my bookish updates….

This Past Week:
eter
I posted my thoughts on Eternal Hunger by Denise K. Rago.

Finished Reading:
ex
The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty . My thoughts will be up this week. It was terrifying but also surprisingly emotional.

In My Mailbox:

winter
Winter Frost (A Chris Matheson Cold Case Mystery Book 2) arrived via The iRead Review

mary
Mary Queen of Scots : The True Life of Mary Stuart via Amazon Prime.

Watching: I binge-watched You  on Netflix with my daughter this weekend which was good but we didn’t like the ending so we don’t know if we will watch the second season when it’s available. I enjoyed the NYC and the bookstore settings though.

  1. We ended up getting all rain on Long Island and it generally was not even heavy.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on The Exorcist. I have only seen the film which I thought wax fantastic. I have always wanted to read the book.

    • Glad the snow skipped you. We are expecting some this week again. My thoughts on The Exorcist will be up this Wednesday. If you ever read it I’m curious to hear your thoughts on it.
      Enjoy your week!

  2. YOU has me really curious, I’m two episodes in so far and liking it for the most part. And wow 2 degrees! Sounds like a good day to stay in for sure! It’s cold here too.

  3. We had those cold temps here as well and I was not happy to have to go out in it this morning. It was miserable. Glad to hear you enjoyed YOU on Netflix. I keep hearing everyone talking about it but haven’t decided if I want to watch it yet.

Hope you have a great week!

  4. Hi Naida,

We don’t have any more public holidays over here until Easter, which is right at the end of April this year, so quite a while to wait!

Given the chance, today would definitely been one for snuggling up though, as it has been cold, dark and depressing for the most part. They keep promising sleet, snow and ice, however with the exception of the far north of the country, that doesn’t look set to happen any time soon – fingers crossed! – At 11pm as I type, it is pouring with rain.

I watched a short Netflix trailer for ‘You’, which I have never heard of before and I quite liked what I saw. I am definitely considering adding the book to my list, although I do hope that the ending is not that disappointing.

I have never read a Lauren Carr book, but I checked her out on Goodreads and I quite like the sound of some of her mysteries, so definitely a new name for my list. It shows you currently reading ‘Winter Frost’, so I shall be interested to see what you think about it.

Enjoy your evening and Happy Reading 🙂

    • I hope you get some sunshine soon. I know the cold long winter months can be depressing. You was entertaining, but I wasn’t a fan of the ending.
Enjoy your week and happy reading! It’s my first time reading Lauren Carr and it’s nice finding new authors.

  5. Very nice quote. It is only marginally cold here compared to you folks up north. Still I didn’t go running outside. I was going to go to work but ended up working from home.
I hope you enjoy your new books. Happy Reading!

  6. Winter Frost sounds good and appropriate for you at this time of year. We’ve had temps up to 40 Celsius most days and I’ve been reading books set in freezing countries with lots of ice and snow. The writing has to be good to get the atmosphere across when it’s sweltering here.

  7. Good quote from a great man.
I had to laugh when I learned the name of the storm last week. I have a 4yo granddaughter with the same name – and there are days when she seems rather stormy 🙂
