The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….
Good morning and happy February. I don’t mind February too much, it is cold but it’s a short month and there’s Valentine’s chocolates so that’s nice.
I haven’t posted anything since my last Sunday post but I am just about finished with my current read so I hope to have that review up this week. Today will be spent relaxing at home before watching the game later this evening. We get together and watch with family and it’s fun times, especially the food and the commercials. Aside from that it has been a really cold week with flurries and temps in the negative digits at one point but this week we’re expecting two days in the mid to upper 50’s.
In my Mailbox:
An ARC of The Disgraceful Lord Gray by Virginia Heath arrived via Rachel’s Random Resources for an April 1st review date. I love this cover. That Lord Gray has quite the resting bitch face.
“A spy on a mission…
Until he meets this heiress!
Part of The King’s Elite. Miss Theodora Cranford’s learned to keep her impetuous nature locked away. She won’t be deceived by another man who can’t see past her fortune. She wants an honourable, sensible sort – not a self-assured scoundrel like her new neighbour, Lord Gray. Although she’s sure there’s more to him than meets the eye… But after that first captivating kiss, she’s certainly left wanting more…”
An ARC of Realm by Alexandrea Weis arrived via Meryl Moss Media for a May 14th review.
Based on a true story.
When her homeland is conquered by the mighty Alexander the Great, Roxana—the daughter of a mere chieftain—is torn from her simple life and thrown into a world of war and intrigue…
Currently Reading:
I am just about finished with The Governess Game (Girl Meets Duke #2) by Tessa Dare. I read book 1 in this series last year and this author is a favorite in the genre. I am only reading romance this month.
Watching:
Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes on NetFlix. NetFlix has a knack for creating some great original programs. I got hooked on this documentary this past week. It is only 4 episodes long. I found it morbid but fascinating, but I did think they glossed over what a monster Bundy really was. It’s crazy hearing his take on things and seeing the footage of him, he did look like a normal guy on the outside, handsome even. AND what really takes the cake is his mother’s reaction to the situation. This was worth the watch, interesting yet disturbing.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That covers my updates for the week. What are you reading/doing?
Enjoy the game if you are watching later and have a nice week.

I remember the Ted Bundy movie starring Mark Harmon who looked just like Ted. I will watch the Netflix Docu-series for sho’.

I never saw that film, I know they are coming out with another one soon. Zac Efron. This documentary was interesting.

I have the Ted Bundy tapes in my Netflix queue…but haven’t the courage to watch them yet!
Enjoy your books and your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

I recommend, it’s not overly graphic but it is disturbing.

This is going to sound odd but I love Documentaries about serial killers. Wow, that sounds bad but it really fascinates me, like what made them want to do that. I can’t even imagine. I need to check out that one.
Love the cover of Realm, think I will be checking that one out and adding to my TBR.
Have a great week! Happy Reading!

Doesn’t sound odd at all lol I watch alot of true crime documentaries and serial killers fascinate and terrify at the same time.
Have a great week and happy reading too 🙂

Hi Naida,
Now that I know you have been watching the ‘Bundy’ tapes, I can see why you made the comment you did, when you visited Fiction Books earlier. I haven’t watched the programme myself, however a couple of the girls at work were discussing it last week and it made me feel quite sick just listening to them, made even worse when I came home and actually checked out in detail the many crimes he had committed – kinda wish I hadn’t bothered, although I know that sticking my head in the sand is not the right thing to do!
My family will probably have slept most of this afternoon, so that they can sit up all night and watch the Superbowl. Not for me I’m afraid, give me a good England rugby match and I am much happier! I hope that you enjoy the game and not too many of these steamy romances please – February could be quite a long month – Ha! Ha! just joking 🙂 🙂

Hi Yvonne, I feel like a few people are talking about the Bundy documentary lately. I know what you mean, it’s hard to watch or hear about it, but I found that NetFlix kind of glossed over much of it which can be a good thing. I don’t like much detail with things like that, it’s sad and terrifying since it is real.
I hope you enjoyed the weekend and I have heard of rugby. Oh, I started a paranormal romance already lol. It’s a re-read because I really enjoyed it years ago when I first read it.
Enjoy your week and the upcoming weekend as well 🙂

I am also relaxing today. I have been working long hours during the week and I have been a bit burnt out on the weekends.
The Ted Bundy documentary sounds good. Someone else told me that it was a bit disturbing. Enjoy the reading and enjoy the game.

Hi Brian, I know, I feel the same lately. Weekends are for resting and I know the cold dark winter months make me feel more tired and like staying inside.
The documentary was good but really scary too, I want to see the new movie coming out.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Wasnt Roxana like 12 when they met. I doubt she looked like that cover. And she was a bit more than just some nobody’s daughter.
I wish I could let go of history and just look at the great story 🙂

I have no idea, but I am curious to read this one. I’m the same, I like the real history behind it.

Lol, I’m in the UK but the American Football fans in my family are all Patriots, have been for years, and are beside themselves at another final. My nut cousin will be up to the wee hours watching it live (surprisingly it’s televised here too) and suffering at work tomorrow for the privilege, lol.
I only watched the first episode of the Ted Bundy thing on netflix and found it interesting but I think I’d need to be in a specific mindset to watch the rest… It’s fascinating but not easy to watch, you know?

Yes, people are huge fans of the teams, it is fun though. I am always tired the Monday after the game from being up late the night before. .
I know what you mean about the documentary, it is disturbing but I found NetFlix glossed over some of it. I wonder why, but I don’t mind, I don’t want gory details either.
Enjoy your week and happy reading.

There is something to be said for Valentine’s chocolates, isn’t there? I hope you have been staying warm as best you can. Those extra cold temperatures were something else. We’ve been getting nonstop rain the last couple of days. I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch the Ted Bundy mini-series on Netflix, but I have heard it is really good. Maybe one day I will want to see it too. I hope you enjoy your new books! We aren’t football watchers here so no Super Bowl for us. I hope you enjoyed the game! Have a great week, Naida!

I like February but hasn’t the weather been crazy lately? We reached the 40s yesterday and should today as well – meaning we’ll lose some of our snow cover. I’m sure we’ll get more.
I like Tessa Dare’s HRs. Light, funny (usually) and just the thing I usually need between more serious novels.

This weather is crazy lately yes. We’ve had upper 50’s twice this week, it is such a tease too. It’s a nice break from the cold though. I am a Dare fan too.

I went through a stage in my late teens/early twenties when I was fascinated by mass murderers, Bundy amongst them.
Though put off by the cover I have to admit that lovely good, strong female characters as I do Realm really appeals to me. all the more so because it is based on a true story.

Serial killers have always scared me so I hadn’t ever really delved into watching or reading too much about them but the Bundy documentary was scary yet morbidly interesting too. Makes you wonder ‘why’.
I am not a fan of the Realm cover but I look forward to reading the book. Enjoy your week!

My daughter and I were watching the Ted Bundy tapes last night until it freaked us out a bit too much and we switched over to Married at First Sight ( also a little disturbing). I like your idea of only reading one genre for the whole month.

oh my gosh, Married at First Sight , but why though? Why would they agree to that? I watch 90 Day Fiancee and that can also be scary in its own way.
I randomly decided on romance reads for February and I am glad I did.

I’ve been wondering about the Bundy series. Sort of interested but we have cut way back on our tv viewing so it may take a while before we get to it.
