Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 5/19/19: Sunshine, Reading, Watching Etc.

sunday (249x249)mm
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….

Good morning blog-land. I’ve been a little MIA around here but I am catching up this morning over coffee. I like quiet Sunday mornings like this when the house is still asleep and I can blog-hop for a little while.
The past few weeks have been full of rainy days but we have also had some beautiful weather in between. This weekend has been gorgeous in the high 70’s so far. I’ve been crocheting, watching shows and reading as well but when the temps are nice like this on weekends, I love being outdoors after spending most of the work-week in my cubicle.

Onto my updates…

reading:
I am almost in a reading slump but I am just about finished reading Far Side of the Sea by Kate Breslin so I hope to have my review up soon. I need to get get back onto my reading schedule because I have reviews due for June.

I finally finished watching Big Love a few weeks ago. I don’t know how I got into watching this one, but once I started I was hooked. The series finale was so good and I got a little chocked up. All the feels with this one and now I’ve been missing it.

I also recently watched season 1 of Big Little Lies and OMG. So good. I can’t wait for season 2. The show is based on the book. Have you watched or read this one?

And I also watched Leaving Neverland in increments because it was difficult. I almost wished I hadn’t watched it because I love Michael Jackson’s music and now I can’t hear it without thinking of this documentary.

misc:
Like I said, the beautiful weather beckons so I’ll close with a few pics I took while we enjoyed the day at a favorite state park recently. I just love this place, the views are wonderful and peaceful….

I hope you have a great week ahead. What are you up to?

  1. Your week sounds wonderful! I like early mornings alone in the house…and I also loved Big Love. I was definitely hooked.

I’m eagerly awaiting Season II of Big Little Lies.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  2. Oooo what a beautiful hiking spot you were in!

I loved the Big Little Lies series. Unfortunately I tried to read the book AFTER seeing it and couldn’t get into it because the series was so good.

I hope Once a Liar is good. I agree that’s a cool cover.

  3. Great pictures. We have had similar weather here on Long Island. The rain had given way to nicer weather. I think today’s forecast calls for rain however.

Far Side of the Sea sounds good interesting. I look forward to your post on it.

  4. Hi Naida,

I too, enjoy blogging early in the morning, often before getting ready for work and whilst I have my first coffee of the day. Trying to type and hope to put together a cohesive post late at night, is becoming more and more of a challenge!

The weather here today has been a little hit and miss, although we have had some lovely days over the past couple of weeks. We have another holiday weekend coming up, which coincides with 4 family birthdays, including both of ours. You guessed it … It looks as though it is going to rain every day, which will spoil any outdoor plans!

What you class as a reading slump sounds just about normal for me and having spent an entire week not so long ago, reorganizing my schedule and indexing all my outstanding posts, that has already gone by the wayside and chaos reigns as per normal!

‘Once A Liar’ sounds really good, in fact all this author’s books do! and I am looking forward to your review of ‘Far Side Of The Sea’

Looking back on last times post, I love the pink baby blanket 🙂

For me personally, getting out and about is far more important than sat indoors blogging or watching TV and we have tentative future plans for our love of the great outdoors, so I’ll keep up updated if that progresses further.

Have a good week and Happy Reading 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne, I think early weekend blogging is the best time also.
We’ve got rain here to day and tomorrow but this past weekend the weather was gorgeous and sunny. I hope you enjoy you birthday plans and that the weather holds up 🙂 I know we both enjoy being outdoors when the weather is nice, it’s way better than being inside.

Reading slumps are bound to happen. I actually picked up a King novel this week and got right out of my slump. I am halfway finished with it, it is over 500 pages long so that is saying something.
      Enjoy your week!

  5. It’s been rainy here too. I’m ready for some sun! And great pics! I especially like that third one, with the river. 🙂

    Big Little Lies was awesome!

  6. Happy Sunday, Naida! It looks and sounds like you had a very lovely weekend. We had a lot of rain this morning, and I was afraid that the Padre game would be rained out, but luckily it wasn’t. I haven’t watched any of the shows you mentioned but they sound compelling. I hope you find more time to enjoy your books. I hope to read more in the week ahead (starting tonight). It is too easy to become distracted by stuff on my phone, including Words with Friends!

    • Hi Susan, glad the game wasn’t rained out.

  7. I like making the most of quiet mornings before the rest of the family wake up too. I really need to start the ARCs that are due in June, but I’ve got too many great books calling to me.
Lovely pictures, thanks for sharing. x

  10. I miss having time to blog hop at my leisure. It’s been so crazy busy lately. I miss you! Your weather sounds much like ours. I’m sitting in my car right now waiting for my daughter to get out of her Girl Scout meeting. The clouds look fierce. I think we will be getting more rain tonight.

I hope you enjoyed Far Side of the Sea. Once a Liar sounds good too.

Your photos are so beautiful! I want to step right into them.

I hope you have a great week!

    • Thanks, enjoy the baking show and cross stitching. I started watching Santa Clarita Diet, even though I know it was dropped after the 3rd season, it’s still good.

  11. Give me 70 degree weather anyday! We’re slowly baking away here in NC(lol) I just finished watching Always Be My Baby with Ali Wong, and my goodness was that a fab movie. I need to check out Big Little Lies too, because everyone has been raving about it. San Clarita Diet was pretty good too, and I’m almost done reading the Malta Exchange by Steve Berry, and it’s thrilling. I’ve also been trying to catch up on blogging and blog visits because I’ve been behind. Hugs and Happy June! RO

  12. Big little lies I read but haven’t seen. The Michael Jackson documentry I haven’t watched yet for that reason. I am still working on my very first ever crochet item,I need to work on my holding and technique because it takes me so long to even do a handful of chain links. xxx
