Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 7/14/2019: Relaxing, Summer, Couch Potato Days

sunday (249x249)mm
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….

Good morning all. Can you believe we are halfway through July already? Well, we are. I love these summer months.
This week at work was hectic but I finally got caught up on my deadlines so I can breathe a little easier now. I relaxed in the evenings by watching my shows and working on crochet. I finished up the book I was reading so that was good. Aside from that, this has been a quiet weekend at home relaxing. My daughter wants me to bake an apple cake so I’ll be doing that later this morning. This is the recipe I use and it has become a favorite.

Onto my updates…

In My Mailbox:
matchno one
Matchmaking for Beginners by Maddie Dawson came via AmazonPrime and No-one Ever Has Sex on Holiday by Tracy Bloom came via NetGalley. I read No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day by Tracy Bloom before and thought it was fun so this one sounds good too.

Reading:

I finished reading  Jack & Jill so my thoughts will be up in a few days. Up next is any book from my review TBR pile. I need to get back to my review books, this Patterson book was a “for me” read.

Watching: (I’ve been a big time couch potato)

We finished watching Stranger Things season 3 and it was great. I love the 1980’s vibe to this show, it’s so nostalgic. But watching this last season (my favorite one) had me laughing then I even cried a little too.

Hubs and I watched Wine Country on Netflix and it was a letdown unfortunately. I felt like it had so much potential but sigh.
I finished season 1 of Castle Rock which was really good. Confusing, but still good. It’s based on the Stephen King universe so you see different characters from his novels featured as well as book references. I hope they film a second season.

And we finished Santa Clarita Diet, another good one which I am hoping gets picked up again since it was dropped so the last episode just leaves it wide open. My daughter and I were hooked on this one and it was nice binge watching it this summer.

Crocheting:
Here is Otis with his blue sweater I crocheted him recently.

I also made a matching one for my daughter’s dog Huey.

That wraps up my updates for now. What are you up to? Enjoy your week!

  1. Glad to hear you made it through your work deadlines. I hope you can relax a little more now. That apple cake recipe sounds so good. I may have to try to make that one myself because I love apples. I’ve been meaning to try Stranger Things on Netflix but keep forgetting about it.

  2. I watch a very limited number of television shows. I have been watching Stranger Things. I have two episodes to go with season 3. The 80s nostalgia is incredible. I graduated high school in 1985 so the show is really nostalgic for me. With that I thought that the first season was the best. I am finding season 3 a bit repetitive in terms of plot. I do like the character development though. I watch a very limited number of television shows. I have been watching Stranger Things. I have two episodes to go with season 3. • Hi Brian, I love the 1980’s nostalgia, the show gets it pretty spot on. Season 1 was very good and this 3rd season was really enjoyable too. Like you mention, the character development.
Enjoy your weekend and stay cool! It’s supposed to get pretty hot out there this weekend.

  4. Love the crocheted sweaters…and I also enjoy couch potato hanging…except I no longer have a couch! LOL.

My bed and a little wicker love seat next to a comfy chair…those do it for me these days.

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  5. Naida,

I don’t watch a lot of TV, but Stranger Things sounds really good. So does that French apple cake–yum! The sweaters for the pups are out of this world adorable! The purple sweater you made for Daisy still fits–it’s a favorite!

I don’t know if you read the NYT, but there’s a funny (and true) color comic strip (full page) about beach reads in today’s newspaper. Yep! 🙂

Enjoy your reading, Naida, and have a great week ahead!
