Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 8/18/19: Lazy Summer Days

sunday (249x249)mm
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….

Happy Sunday. August is flying by pretty fast. I’m already seeing Fall/Halloween things out in the stores. And people are talking about pumpkin spice this and that. I’m not ready for that stuff yet.

This was a fast week, it was Friday before I knew it. I didn’t get too much reading time in but I have been crocheting and binge watching a few favorite shows. I slacked off blog-wise so no reviews posted this past week so I am planning on having at least one review up this coming week.

Onto my bookish updates….

Reading:
darkride
I’m reading both Dark Blossom and Deadly Ride  right now. I’m giving myself a deadline to finish both by the end of this upcoming week.

In my Mailbox:
holiday
A Cup of Holiday Fear (A Bakeshop Mystery) by Ellie Alexander arrived courtesy of St Martin’s Press / Netgalley. This cover. *insert heart eyes emoji here*
“It’s Christmastime and everyone is heading to Torte, the most cheerful bakery in town. There’s no place like home for the homicide…”

Watching:
gifmind

Black Spot  and Love Island  but I noticed that season 2 of Mindhunter is available now so if you are into serial killer crime drama, run don’t walk.

Misc:
We also recently spent a day with family at a BBQ food truck festival with live music, great BBQ and fresh squeezed lemonade. What better way to spend a summer day? I don’t eat really pork myself but I make the exception when this festival comes around in the summer. The sides of coleslaw, cornbread and baked beans are really good too. I’ll close with a few pics. Enjoy your week ahead, what are you up to?

  1. Every week flies by for me. We’re getting pumpkin and Oktoberfest beer in the store. People come in and say “it’s too early,” and then buy it. Both of the books you’re reading look good but in different ways.

  2. Mmmm, the food truck festival sounds yum!
Sometimes you need to slack off, binge watch stuff and chill. It’s good for the soul. 🙂
I saw Halloween stuff in shops this weekend and I got so excited! The minute the kid is back in school summer is dead to me and autumn is here! lol Although, that’s a few weeks away so I’m trying not to get too excited.

  3. I stopped at Hobby Lobby a week ago and they had tons of Christmas stuff! Yikes. While I love Summer for the fact that everyone talks about vacation and lazy days, being in Central Texas I’m so over it. We’ve numerous days of 100+ heat so I am ready for Fall 🙂
Can’t wait to hear what you think fo the books and love that cozy mystery cover!

100+ is too hot, I don’t blame you for being ready for cooler weather. Enjoy your week and happy reading!

I didn’t get much reading last week either – too many fun things to do with family. Hope you have a great week!

  7. I can’t believe September is arriving soon! And those Halloween stuff? Wow, the stores are sure getting earlier putting their stuff out. And I agree that Christmas-y book cover is gorgeous. Happy Friday! 🙂

  8. I’m not ready for the fall stuff either, even though it’s usually my favourite season! I feel this summer was so short…

Dark Blossom sounds intriguing. Have a great week and happy reading!
