Sunday Post 8/25/19: Reading/Watching/Crocheting

sunday (249x249)
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Happy last Sunday in August. I cannot believe how fast these few summer months have gone by. After a mini-heatwave Monday and Tuesday and then a mid-week rainstorm, we’ve had some really nice weather with this weekend in the high 70’s. We drove out to a farm with a country store I like for their homemade pie and raw honey recently. Mmmm very berry pie.

Onto my bookish updates…

dark
I finished reading Dark Blossom this past week. My review will be up soon. I have to say this book almost threw me into a reading slump. Does that happen to you? When you’re reading a book that you wish you were enjoying more? Does it throw you into a book slump? Not to say Dark Blossom wasn’t good, but I did find it slow going at first especially.

up next:
ride
I’m reading  Deadly Ride  and aim to finish it this week.

tower
The Tower of Songs  is up next on my review pile.

mailbox:

My mailbox is empty this week but that’s a good thing since I’m behind on reviews.

Watching:
gifmindhunter
I finished season 2 of Mindhunter last night and it was fantastic. I can’t wait for season 3.

Crocheting:

I’ve been working on a shawl/wrap with this yarn for several weeks now and I finally got it the way I want it. After a few attempts and after unraveling it twice, it will be a light poncho. This is one of those instances where I bought the yarn because I loved it when I saw it, then I had to decide what to make with it. The color and drape to the yarn had me at hello. I’ll post a finished pic next week.

That wraps up my updates for this week. What are you up to? Reading? Watching? Enjoy your week.

  1. I agree that the summer has gone by too fast. As I get a little bit older I am enjoying the summer months more and more. Though I do not really go into reading slumps these days I do find that a disappointing book can sap enthusiasm and slow me down.

    That pie looks very delicious!

  2. We’re having a cool weekend, too, but I miss the sun. I’m nnot ready for summer to be over but I am tired of the humidity.

    Enjoy your catch up week!

I wish I could crochet or knit.

  4. Mmm, pie! That is something I need to try to make. I had plans to try to make pie for the first time w/the teenager but we’ve been busy w/other things. I am trying to read more right now; it feels harder when I have hardcopies to read rather than ebooks.

    • The pie was very good and I prefer hard copies myself, I think it’s because I’m on the computer all day at work and my e-reader reminds me of a computer screen.
      Enjoy your week!

  5. Oh that pie looks delicious! Please send us some of your weather. All last week we were in the 100s and I think we’re supposed to get more of that this week. So over it. Your crocheting is so pretty can’t wait to see the finished project.

  6. That berry pie looks delicious! I love the cover of Dark Blossom. I hope the reading slump doesn’t last long. That has happened to me as well–where a book will throw me into a little bit of a slump. Usually because it is so slow going or because it just doesn’t hit the spot–even if I like it when I’m reading it. Deadly Ride sounds cute. I hope you are enjoying it!

I just discovered Shadowhunters on Hulu and watched the first episode last night. I read the first book in the Mortal Instruments series years ago and liked it okay. I wasn’t impressed with the movie, but the show seems more promising. Guilty pleasure type TV.

Your shawl is such a pretty shade of blue.

I hope you have a great week, Naida!

    • Hi Wendy, the pie was very good ! Ugh the dreaded reading slump, I am trying to keep the pace going however, I want to meet my 50 books read this year goal also so that’s been motivating me.
I will check out Shadowhunters then, I love guilty pleasure shows.
      Have a nice week too!

  8. Naida,

The summer is going by quickly! I’m glad your weather’s been nice. I hope your reading slump’s a thing of the past.

Oh, my, that pie looks INCREDIBLE!

I’m reading I, Eliza Hamilton, a chapter or two each night. It’s very romantic. Happy reading in the week ahead!

  9. Cannot believe August is already winding down. It feels like it was just January and thew new year arrived but here we are getting close to September. I am actually just started season one of Mindhunter so I’m really glad to see so many rave reviews about it floating around out there. Gets me even more hyped to start it.

Here’s to hoping you have a wonderful week ahead. Happy reading!
