my thoughts:
Crochet in a Day: 42 Fast & Fun Projects contains several crochet projects that are meant to be worked up in one day. I myself don’t really ever look for the time a crochet project will take but these types of projects are nice for when you are looking for something a little faster and easier. I would say the patterns here are for beginners and on and some of the patterns are a little bit more advanced using techniques like Tunisian crochet.

The sections included are Hats and Headbands, Wraps and Other Wearables, Bags and Totes, Kitchen and Dining and Living. There are several projects to choose from like a coffee cup cozie, a hanging plant holder, a wine tote, a coin purse, hats, scarves and fingerless gloves. There is also a stitch guide at the end of reference. I am not a big fan of the cover however, I feel like it could be more eye catching somehow.

A few of my favorite patterns included are the Dreamy Poncho and the Tablet Cozy. The patterns all look clearly written and there are photos to go with each. These projects would also make great gift ideas.

All in all, Crochet in a Day: 42 Fast & Fun Projects by Salena Baca, Danyel Pink and Emily Truman would make a nice addition to a crocheter’s pattern collection.

    I am guessing that you found many of these patterns a wee bit too simple for you stitch wise, although form my very amateur perspective I think that even I could manage some of them!

    I think the stitch used for making up the poncho might be a little too loose and holey for my liking, but I guess the basic design could be made up using a substitute stitch with a bit more body to it!

    I actually quite like the cover art, although it isn’t the most brightly coloured I have seen you feature. I guess they have tried to keep things colour coordinated and simple to match the patterns.

    I can see you trying out a few of the smaller pieces and thanks for featuring 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne, these are mostly simple easy projects. I can see the poncho being adjusted and personalized. I’m not too crazy about the cover but I guess they wanted to feature as much as they could on there.

  8. I see you are a crafter, too! I have fond memories of my grandma teaching me to crochet granny squares, circles, and little doll hats. She made afghans (I still have one) and crocheted lace doilies, too. Even a crocheted lace bedspread, I think. These days, I’m more of a knitter and spinner, but I would enjoy making some of these projects. Especially the Kindle/iPad cover, and one of the bags.

    • Those sound like nice memories with your grandma. I love to crochet, and learned from an Aunt when I was around 12. I know the basic knitting stitches but it never really took. I love the look of knitted items, the stitches are so pretty.
