The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….
Good morning and happy Sunday. I feel like it was just 90 degrees out and now it’s in the 50’s and lower in the mornings and evenings. It’s nice though, this cooler autumn weather before the freezing winter months set in. The foliage is already looking beautiful.
Work has been hectic as usual and I’m not thrilled about going in tomorrow but I’m aiming to catch up and meet a few deadlines this week so I can breathe easy. I’ve been doing good with my reading and reviewing lately and I’m trying to keep at that pace. Crocheting has taken the back seat for now but hopefully I will pick up my hook and yarn again soon.
Onto more updates….
Recently on the blog….I posted my thoughts on:
The Magical Sunglasses by Nicole McGrath which is a really cute children’s book.
I reviewed In at the Deep End by Kate Davies which was fantastic and entertaining.
I am reading One Little Secret by Cate Holahan. It took off to a not so great start with all the characters involved and the flash-backs and flash-forwards, I almost DNF’d but I stuck with it and it has gotten better. I want to finish this one up early this week because Fraterfest is coming October 10th through October 15th and I want to clear my reading calendar for that. I have a very scary read in mind for those days.
In my mailbox:
The Ones Who Got Away was free for Kindle and it still is if you’re interested. This is the first in a series. I really like this cover.
I watched The Last Exorcism this week and it had alot of promise but then towards the end I thought it was all over the place and a little bit silly.
I was waiting for In the Tall Grass based on the Stephen King/Joe Hill short story and I watched it yesterday. It differs from the short story somewhat but I thought it was very good. I liked the way they filmed it, the tall grass itself looked so creepy.
I also watched The Orphange on Hulu. Such a good ghost story. Sad, and scary and hauntingly beautiful. I teared up.
That wraps up my weekly updates. What are you up to? What are you reading?
The cooler weather tends to put me in a mood to bake on weekends so I baked an apple cake last weekend…
Here’s a virtual slice for you all…this is the recipe I use, it’s simple and really good.
