Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 12/8/2019: Let it Snow

sunday (249x249)mm
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….

Good morning and happy Sunday. I hope you are well and enjoying the holiday season. How is your December going so far? I’ve been MIA from blog land due to the usual, life has kept me busy and blogging takes the back burner. I worked a full day of overtime yesterday then we got together with family last night for dinner so I am really beat but I decided to log on this morning and finally get an updates post up. Our Christmas tree will be up later on today, I can’t wait. I usually have it up sooner but just have not had the time lately. We had our first snowfall of the season here which turned into a snow storm which then resulted in an early dismissal from work last week. It was definitely pretty to watch.

  1. Hi Naida,

This time of year is always hectic in retail, so I haven’t been posting very much at all for the past few weeks. I have to say that I haven’t entirely missed the stress of trying to meet posting deadlines too much either, so I might try and keep my new regime in place going forward into 2020!

As usual Otis looks good modelling his new jackets and by the looks of the picture you shared, he has definitely needed them, both for warmth and so that he doesn’t get lost in the snow sporting that lovely bright colour! We have had a couple of light frosts here, but on the whole the weather has been exceptionally mild, just very wet and mucky. I am hoping that continues into Christmas, as we are driving 40 miles to my brother’s place for Christmas day with the family.

I also like the sound of a couple of the book you featured, by new to me authors, who are definitely destined for my reading list..

Seed’ sounds really spooky and I love both versions of the cover art. Great review by the way, although I did miss your post … Sorry!

‘Seconds To Live’ is also intriguing, however as Susan seems to be much of a prolific author, this series might get away from me a little.

I have caught the end of a couple of early Christmas films, but there sounds like quite a good line-up to come over the festive season, so I might catch a couple in full then. We are also saving ‘Toy Story 4’ to watch and hopefully the new ‘Terminator’ film will be out by then too!

Not much has happened this side of the pond, although we did visit a National Trust property near to where we live, which put on a ‘Festival Of Lights’ show for the first time. luckily we chose a very still. if freezing cold night to attend, which made everything a little more magical. They put on a great display!

Happy Reading and have a good week 🙂

    • Hi Yvonne, it is such a hectic time of the year. I hope you get some downtime soon.
See was very good, I’ve been hooked on that author’s books lately.

I like the Toy Story movies and I want to watch the latest Terminator also. And the Festival Of Lights sounds really nice, thanks for sharing the link, it looks so beautiful there.
Enjoy Christmas with your family and happy reading 🙂

  2. Naida, Otis’ new sweater is adorable! He’s such a good model. Daisy’s sweater is still perfect for her (the last one you made). I also love the crocheted merry Christmas ornaments! I hope you get a chance to relax and enjoy your Sunday, especially since you worked OT yesterday. Have a terrific week ahead!

  3. Pretty pic! I like the snow too as long as it doesn’t get too cold lol. Although where I live it usually does, sooner or later!

I’ve only seen a few Christmas shows so far but I’m totally in the holiday mood this year! Hope your week is a good one!

  4. December is always busy, isn’t it?
As always, Otis is adorable and he looks good in that crochet jacket you made. Hope you’ve a great week and stay warm!

  5. I like the dog sweater. I knit mine. I reworked a pattern to do it in the round. Luckily, we only get maybe 2 days of snow here in NC a year because they can’t handle it, don’t have the equipment, plus the drivers also can’t handle it. Having lived in IA/MN for years I can but won’t go out with the inexperienced.

I love holiday movies. White Christmas, Miracle on 34th St, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Grinch, and more.

I am reading. With less blog tours this month, I’m reading stuff I want and finishing up ARCs that I didn’t manage earlier.

I hope you have a lovely week and enjoy some great reads!

    • Thanks Anne, it’s definitely scary being on the roads when the weather is bad like that. I know it does snow down South sometimes.
Happy reading for you this month!
Miracle on 34th St is a top favorite Christmas movie.

  6. Your snow picture is pretty – if cold looking. 🙂 We enjoy holiday movies too. I haven’t seen the Knight one.
Oh- lucky Otis and sister to get such nice homemade gifts!

  7. Its that time of year when so many of us are either MIA or having a bit of a bloggy slump for one reason or another. Lovely to have a catch up on what you are watching/reading/crocheting, I too am reading a Jenny Colgan holiday story.
