Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 1/26/2020: Reading, Watching Etc.

sunday (249x249)mm
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….

Happy last Sunday in January. Goodbye January and good riddance, that means spring is getting closer. Can you tell these long, cold winter months do not impress me? I need the sunshine and warmth to thrive.

onto my bookish updates….

recently on my blog:

3 book reviews! Yay. I’ve had a great reading month.

I shared my thoughts on Then She Was GoneThe Phantom Prince and Wish Upon a Cowboy. These were all good but I’ll be damned if that Ted Bundy memoir did not keep me up reading past my bedtime. You can follow the links on the titles if you want to read my reviews.

in my mailbox:

Stanley Park by Sapphira Olson arrived via the author. I will be sharing my thoughts on this poetry collection in February.
“Stanley Park is a collection of 35 poems from parables author Sapphira Olson charting the story of two lovers through history as they are separated and then reunited all within the island of Stanley Park in Vancouver.”

I will also be sharing the link to my favorite poem of the week for Serena’s Poetry Reading Challenge. I didn’t know whether to share a post or a tweet for this one, but I think I will stick to writing a post on the last Tuesday of every month for this challenge.

watching:
I watched Dracula on Netflix. This was just 3 episodes, and the first 2 episodes were great and really scary but that last episode was bizarre and very much a letdown. Have you seen this one?

This weekend my daughter and I have been binge-watching season 3 of Sabrina on Netflix which is pretty good so far.

That covers my updates for now. What are you up to? Enjoy your week!

  1. I was curious about the Dracula series on Netflix. I still may give it a try. January always seems like the longest month ever doesn’t it? hope you have a great week ahead and looking forward to hearing about the poetry you’ve been reading.

  2. Haha love that GIF. I’m so over January as well.

Then She Was Gone looks good, I’ve liked most of what I’ve read by Lisa Jewell. And I’ve watched the first episode of Dracula, I still need to watch the last two- that’s good to know about the last o

  3. Hi Naida,

The winter here, although very wet and dreary, has been very mild, so the sales of our winter clothing and footwear have been way below their usual levels. Rumour has it that we are yet to have the worst of winter hit us, in the shape of a polar vortex. Much as I don’t like the full heat of summer, the thought of snow arriving now is not very appealing!

We watched the first episode of Dracula on television, and although it was quite good, decided not to bother recording or watching episodes 2 & 3. Friends and colleagues who I though might have watched and enjoyed the entire series, don’t seem to have even tried watching it, and those who did, didn’t have a lot good to say about it!

I don’t read too much poetry, but I will dip in and out of the poetry books I own, even if I only read one poem at a sitting. Checking in on your Tuesday posts, if you decide to go ahead with them, will be something to look forward to and I enjoy reading some of your poem selections!

Hope that you enjoyed your weekend 🙂

    • Oh wow, I hope there is no polar vortex! We’ve had 2 snow squall alerts here so far this winter. I enjoyed the first two episodes of Dracula, but that 3rd one was bizarre.
I enjoy reading poetry and look forward to sharing a few here on my blog.
      Enjoy your week ahead!

  5. We’ve had pretty good weather this winter so far, so I’m happy with this cool, light jacket weather. I’ve bought some Lisa Jewell audios and still need to try her.

Have a lovely week and enjoy some reading!

  6. You have me curious about the Bundy book. I read your review and will keep it in mind – I don’t usually enjoy memoirs like this but this case was so unusual, at least in my experience. At any rate, I’m glad you found it a compelling read.

  8. The month went by quickly and it will be nice to move closer to spring.
I’m glad that you had a good month of reading. All three different books look good.
I hope you enjoy your new poetry books too!
    Happy Reading!

  9. Great post! 💕 And oh, you’re so right about Jan. I too, need some warmth and sunshine to breath and am so done with the cold, freezing air in my part of the world.

I haven’t watched Dracula yet but I have seen a bit a Sabrina and definitely like it. Unfortunately, right now I don’t have the time or energy to anymore new fandoms. 😂 My list is overflowing as it is and I need to let a few go before falling in love with more. Does that make sense? 😉
Have a great reading week! 😍
