The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….
Happy Sunday all. This past week flew right on by. Today the temps are supposed to hit 60 degrees and tomorrow 70 so the warm weather is definitely welcome. I will be taking a nice walk later today at the park to enjoy it.
I have a busy upcoming week so I know I won’t be posting an update next Sunday, but I will be back after that. I finished up The Outsider this week which was excellent and I enjoyed the last couple of chapters while eating handmade chocolates my husband surprised me with. Books + chocolates = bliss. I had to refrain from eating this entire box in one sitting. He knows I love those handmade chocolate turtles which have cashews and caramel. Those are my weakness.
onto my bookish updates…
recently on the blog:
I posted my thoughts on Stanley Park by Sapphira Olson which was a lovely collection of poetry.
coming soon:
I finished up The Outsider and I am getting my review ready. I will be watching the series next, I can’t wait.
watching:
My husband and I rented Joker this week. I thought Joaquin Phoenix did a phenomenal job especially since this character has been done before and most of us probably think of Heath Ledger who did such an iconic job when he played the Joker. This version was really sad and tough to watch but I thought it was fantastic. Have you seen it? Much of it revolves around the topic of mental illness and how the system sometimes fails those in need.
I also watched Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez which was truly sad and disturbing on so many levels. Have you seen this one?
Also of note, for the past several weeks I have been hooked on Small Town Murder which is a free podcast. This one is done by two stand up comedians and features only murders committed in small towns. These two are hilarious but they are also respectful to the victims and the families. My work-wife got me hooked onto this podcast so we listen as we work.
in my mailbox:
Nada! Zip. Zilch. I am ok with this, I have been staying away from NetGalley and I politely declined a few review requests. I have to read what I already have.
crochet:
I finished up my corner to corner heart blanket this week. I love the results. Here it is in my daughter’s room. The yarn I used was a Christmas present, that is where the color scheme came from.
I had a fun time working on this project and it took me about 8 weeks to complete.
That wraps it up for now. How was your week? What are you reading? Enjoy your week ahead!

I love anything with caramel, add nuts and it’s even better. I still love the blanket; it’s great to see it in place.
I hope you have a wonderful, although busy week!

Mmmm! Caramel and nuts – It’s lucky for you we don’t live close by, or I would be right over to ‘share’ 🙂
I just can’t stay away from NetGalley, although I do try to limit myself to the two publishers who have offered me automatic acceptance for their titles. That generally means a cover reveal or blog tour is part of the deal, but I don’t mind that at all!
The blanket looks amazing now that it is finished and you are happy with it, that is the main thing.
I hope that your week doesn’t turn out to be quite as hectic as you think and enjoy any ‘downtime’ that you get 🙂

It’s been the same way here w/ the weather. Kinda nice during the day, warmer temps, than cooling off again at night. Spring in the midwest haha. And I haven’t seen Joker yet…
Books and chocolate are definitely a good thing. 🙂
