Sunday Post 3/22/2020 : A few quick updates

sunday (249x249)
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all staying safe and able to stay home during these uncertain times.

I haven’t been on blogland at all in about two weeks and I have found it hard to even concentrate enough to read a book so I have not been reading.  I’ve been working from home alternately, one week at home then one week in the office. I hope that will change soon and that I can work from home full time until this passes. I work in Bergen County, New Jersey which has the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases in the state so far. I stay isolated in my cubicle when I am in the office and eat my lunch by myself as well. Half the building is empty rotating weeks at home and I stay away from co-workers as much as I can when I am there. This all seems surreal. I would be lying if I said I haven’t had a few meltdowns and cried it out but I’m trying to stay positive and of course be safe.
I haven’t let my kids leave the house since last Friday and they will continue to stay home as long as it takes. It is hard for them staying at home away from friends but necessary.

On the weeks I work from home, Otis insists on staying on my lap. He is good company….

onto my bookish updates….

coming soon:
outsider
I finished reading The Outsider a few weeks back and I loved it. I am going to get my review ready and set that to post this coming week. This is the last time I was actually able to read a book with all the craziness going on but I will try again this weekend and see if something holds my interest. My husband and I are enjoying  watching the series now. It is similar to the book, but also different. It’s still good.

I’m not sure yet. I have plenty to pick from though.

watching:
I watched the documentary series The West which was another fantastic one by Ken Burns. They’ve since taken it off Netflix, but if you’re into history and get a chance to watch this one, I recommend.

As I mentioned before, I am watching The Outsider which is good so far and based on the Stephen King novel.
What are you watching? Have you seen any of these?

This past Friday after I was done working my son took us for a drive to a state park we always enjoy visiting. It was beautiful out. We brought our cameras and shot a few pictures. We made sure not to get near anyone or touch any rails or benches etc….the park was pretty empty as it was.
I will close with a few photos I took.

A reminder that Spring has arrived…these flowers smelled so nice.

I love this shot below. My son does freelance photography and I took a picture of his hands while he was taking a picture of an old building at the park. I know I’m biased but my son is a talented photographer. He has the eye for it. He does weddings, portraits etc…but when he takes his camera out and sees what he can find, he really takes some amazing shots.

That’s it for now.  How are you doing? I will be blog hopping here and there this weekend to see what everyone is up to. Stay safe and take care xo

  1. Hi Naida,

It is a shame that you are not able to work from home on a permanent basis, however that it is very much how it is headed over here in the UK.

Our government has drawn up a list of key workers and little by little anything which is outside the criteria, is closing down.

Hubbie’s job is on that list, however he does have underlying health issues, so we are still waiting to hear from the medical authorities whether he is to be exempted and told to self-isolate for 12 weeks!

I was planning to spend time at home being more proactive on the blog and with my reading, but like yourself, I feel in a kind of ‘limbo’, where everything feels rather surreal. Until I come to terms with that, I am just wandering around as if I have nothing to do.

Hubbie is definitely the photographer in our house and he did turn his hand to a couple of weddings, although only as a favour for friends and family. I wish your son every success when all this craziness is over.

Stay Safe and Take care of one another 🙂 🙂

    • Thanks Yvonne. It does take some getting used to being home, I hope your husband is able to stay home also.

  2. I hope you will be able to just work from home going forward. It’s nice you were able to get out to the park. We have a nice backyard and enjoy going out with the dog. We just stay home and I like it. I’m anxious about going out again. This week was spring break and now my daughter will have at least 2 weeks online. So we will see.

Have a healthy week and enjoy some good reads!

  3. I hope you are able to work from home full time soon. And it is hard right now to concentrate on anything, seems like, with all the uncertainty and bad news.

    Love the spring pic!

    Take care this week!!

  4. How nice that you got a chance to go out and get some pictures together 🙂 And yay for working from home. My jobs are in the school lunch room (canceled), scoring standardized tests (canceled), and reviewing books (which pays in books. LOL). I figure we’re going to have a pretty thrifty summer here 😉 Take care of you and yours!

  5. I hope you are able to work from home full time soon. It’s been crazy globally and I wish this nightmare will be over quickly. I still find it surreal and it reminds me so much of those apocalyptic fictions.

Thanks for sharing the pics! Stay safe and take care, Naida!

  6. I think we’ve probably all have had our share of meltdowns with this. I hope you get to work full-time soon so you don’t have to venture out. Do you think you may get to do that?
I’ve been so absent from blogland too but just find it so hard to concentrate on things. Stay safe and wishing you well!
