Hi all and happy October. How did October get here so fast? I love this time of year. The weather is nice, the foliage is looking pretty and aside from all the madness in the world right now I enjoy the Autumn coziness. I hope you are all doing well. I’ve not been on blogland too much these few weeks. The steroid med side effects have been kicking my butt lately but I am finally off the month long course as of a few days ago so fingers crossed I don’t need more. As a result, I have not been able to sit at the computer for extended periods because my legs and feet have been swelling up so I’ve been crocheting alot more lately with my feet elevated to pass the time. I also really can’t be near anyone because steroids impair your immune system, so yea fun times. I watched the entire season of Ratched, I recommend it. However, if you want some crazy ass plot twists just look at the news lately. The truth really is stranger than fiction right? Bookwise, I also finished reading The Mist so I’ll share my thoughts soon on that.

Also in my mailbox, I purchased these fun book magnets over at Cult City. Total impulse buy but I like them and happily added them to my magnet collection.


crochet:
I finished up a set with the special Mother’s Day yarn from my daughter.
I made myself a cowl and matching fingerless gloves. I made my set using Tunisian crochet which I love. It’s almost like combining knit and crochet, a special hook is used for this. The stitch I used is called honyecomb.



And I had leftover yarn so I whipped up a matching sweater for Otis.

Here he is modeling his new sweater. Another thing that happened this past week is Otis had to have 6 teeth pulled. He’s recovered nicely now. He is turning 7 this December and Chihuahuas are notorious for having bad teeth. I scheduled him for a teeth cleaning and once he was under anesthesia the vet called me to let me know how many of his teeth needed removing. He had to have a round of antibiotics and a few days on pain killers. He was definitely mad at me when I picked up that evening after his dental procedure so for his sake I’m relieved it’s over and done with. If you look closely at his left leg in this pic you can see where they shaved the fur down for the IV. Teeny tiny Otis.

    Poor Otis! 6 teeth all in one go can’t be good! Should he be able to manage well enough with his remaining teeth, or will you need to adjust his diet too?

    I am so pleased that you have finished with your medication, but has it solved the skin issues, or just masked them?

    Your crochet project looks amazing and I love that colour, the dash of cream in the cowl is a nice touch.

    We were having some lovely weather up until the end of last week, when a storm came up through France and Spain and into the south of the UK. it rained non-stop for almost 50 hours, causing power losses and flooding. The gale force winds also brought down so many leaves which had yet to turn autumnal shades, that I don’t know how much of a display we will get this year!

    I shall have plenty of time for reading and crochet this winter, as it looks as though we shall be back in lockdown most of the time. The number of new infections is rising at an alarming rate and whilst our tiny little part of the country is not in special measures yet, as we seem to be bucking the trend, it really is only a matter of time. We are already pretty certain to be having a very quiet Christmas, as households are not allowed to mix any more, so I might take a look at ‘Ratched’ as it sounds really good, as does your new book this week.

    • Thanks Yvonne, Otis will be able to eat his regular diet. He had to eat soft food for 10 days while healing. Dogs have over 40 teeth and the ones removed were smaller ones.
      Stay safe with the storms! I know, it looks like the cases are rising all over the place unfortunately. I recommend Ratched, it was entertaining.

  3. Sorry to hear about the issues that you are having with the medication. I hope that all will be OK now. I am also sorry to have about Otis’s dental issues. He looks good though.

    I think that I have mentioned that I am reading my first, new for me, Stephen King book in years, Doctor Sleep. I look forward to your thoughts on The Mist.

  4. I hope you and Otis are both feeling much better in the week ahead. I love your projects. My daughter wants a pair of fingerless gloves and if I finish with the yard projects in this gorgeous weather. I hope to make some for her later in the month or early next month.

    • Thank you. The fingerless gloves come in handy, once we are back working in the office eventually I will wear mine since they blast the air conditioning year round there.

  5. Happy October, Naida! I have been away from blogging, but am back again. I’m enjoying the (slightly) cooler weather and the shorter days.

    Otis looks ADORABLE in his new sweater! I’m so glad he’s okay. That yarn is beautiful. I love fingerless gloves, and wear them almost every time I go running. I may need to order a pair from you, if you sell them.

      Otis likes the new sweater lol. Me too, I made these fingerless gloves especially for when I’m back to work at the office eventually because they have the air conditioning on high there year round. Yes, if you’d like a pair just email me.

  7. I love that color purple. I am sorry you are not feeling well or should I say the meds are kicking your butt. I will join you in misery should you want company. Between sinus and my bum knee I am a bit down.

    I too love the fall colors but dread what is to come…LOL

  10. I love this time of year too. Summer always takes her time leaving and making room for her sister autumn in my part of the country. Temperatures are beginning to cool a bit finally. I hope you are enjoying more good days than bad health wise. I am glad to hear Otis is doing well after having his teeth pulled. Poor little guy. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Take care!
