Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 9/5/2021:
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….
Happy weekend and happy September, I love this time of year. I’ve been enjoying some time off work these two weeks and taking a few day trips. We had originally booked a few days away in Pennsylvania but Hurricane Ida rolled into our area on Wednesday night so we had to cancel those plans last minute.
We’re grateful all we had was heavy rain and winds by us because some of the surrounding areas got hit pretty bad.
onto more bookish updates…
Recently on the blog:
I shared my thoughts on The Bookshop Murder (Flora Steele Mystery #1) by Merryn Allingham.

Watching:
The new season of AHS which is crazy and good as usual. And I started The Undoing then I ended up binge-watching the whole thing because I could not stop. It was so good. Have you seen this one? What are you watching?

I’ve been making shawls these past few weeks. I discovered my daughter’s Damon Salvatore cardboard cutout makes an easy model….lol
I swear at first glance he looks real. Am I right? Our dogs think so, they won’t stop barking at it when we bring it out.

That’s all for now, I’ll close with pics we took on a recent day trip.
Enjoy your week! What have you been up to? Stay well.

I am glad you have enjoyed some time off. I took a couple of vacation days the end of this coming week. I have no plans but just want to do something for myself. Work has really worn me down. My mom will be in town next weekend–it’s a bad weekend for a visit given all that is going on (full day of dance classes on Saturday plus Nutcracker auditions and then two birthday parties on Sunday)–but there’s an open house at the 55+ community she plans to move into and they are giving a decent discount on rent to those who come. She and I took a tour of the community during her last visit and she fell in love. My mom’s been thinking about moving closer to us for years now and it finally looks like it will happen.
I love that blue sky in the last picture you shared.
I hope you have a great week, Naida!

Hi Wendy. I can relate, work is tiring especially now with covid still around making it more stressful. It’s good you have time off work coming up, hopefully you have some time for yourself to relax.
That sounds like an upcoming busy weekend! Good luck to Mouse with her Nutcracker auditions! That’s nice your mom will move closer to you and it’s great she found a place she likes.
Enjoy your week ahead and thanks for stopping in 🙂

It’s nice you had some time off and the weather turned out ok. I was hoping for rain with Ida but nope, barely sprinkles. I love the shawls.

I just finished the Hotel season of AHS! It took me a good 5 or 6 episodes to get into it, but once I did I loved it. I watched one episode of the next season but am thinking I want to skip ahead to the current season and then go back and catch up.

Hotel is my favorite AHS season. I watched it twice lol. This new season is getting good, especially this 3rd episode. Have fun watching!

That grey shawl looks stunning! I need to get back into AHS as well, I loved the Coven season so much that I just rewatch that one instead of keeping up with the new ones xD It’s a shame you had to cancel your plans but yay for daytrips nonetheless. ‘The Bookshop Murder’ looks great, on my way to check out your review! Have a lovely week 🙂

That cut-out looks startlingly real! He also looks good in a shawl. (Nice crocheting, by the way!)
I’ll have to check out your review of The Bookshop Murder. I almost bought that one recently, and I’m still considering it.
I like your photos of the gate and the tree. What a gorgeous day for an outing!

That cut out! He looks so stylish. I can imagine….my dogs would probably bark at it too. My husband has this faceless blow up man for halloween and the dogs are always barking at it. I finally had to tell him it was for outdoor use only.

lol Serena, the cut out is too funny. I need to try scarves on him next, maybe a hat.
Dogs are funny like that, they get all worked up. Happy reading this week.

The model wears your crocheted creations well. The little pumpkins are adorable, too.
