Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 1/29/23: Reading Updates and still hooked on GOT

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists…

Happy weekend and I hope this post finds you well. January is on its way out “yay”. We’ve had a cold past week with some snow flurries and sleet. Winter is definitely coming now but yesterday the temps hit low 50’s so that was nice. I took Otis on his walk up by the lake to take advantage of the sunshine and warmer weather. It’s dreary out today but I will probably walk him a little later around the block just to get out of the house. I find myself having cabin fever lately.

Onto my weekly updates…

recently on the blog:
I had a productive blog week and shared 2 reviews!

I shared my thoughts on Vampires and Villains (Magical Mystery Book Club #2) by Elizabeth Pantley and shared a link to enter to win a 10$ Amazon gift card giveaway through next week, so please check that out if you haven’t already.

I shared my thoughts on When the Day Comes (Timeless Book 1) by Gabrielle Meyer which was a fantastic historical time travel romance.

Sarah Chislon stopped by for a guest post and giveaway so if you haven’t checked it out please do so. She shares her Top Ten Writing Practices and you can enter to win a 25$ amazon gift card through 2/2.

coming up:

I’m going to share my Top 10 Bookish Moments for TTT this week since it’s a freebie week, so I hope you can stop in for that and leave me your TTT link if you’re participating this week.

My last read for January is hopefully going to be Conviction by Michael Cordell. I’m aiming to finish this one by the 31st.

in my mailbox:
Nothing this past week as I didn’t accept two review offers plus my TBR mountain already beckons.

watching:*GOT spoiler alert coming so scroll past if you don’t want spoilers*

I’m on the last episode of season 3 of GOT. I love having a new fav series to look forward to at the end of a long day. Can someone please pick King Joffrey up and carry him away someplace, he needs a time out and also he needs to be arrested. It’s been a while since a show had me yelling at the tv, thank you Cersei for that. Also, I kinda wanted Stannis Baratheon’s army to take over King’s Landing, they almost had it and Tyrion stepped up big time to hold them back until Granddaddy Tywin Lannister came onto the scene. That grandpa is NOT playing around, he may be a jerk but he means business.

crochet:

My mood blanket keeps growing. I’ve been good at keeping up with it daily. Otis is about the size of one of my larger balls of yarn.

Last but not least, I’ve been baking a batch of peanut butter blossoms weekly lately for my daughter, these are her favorite. The dough smells amazing once ready because of the peanut butter. This is the recipe I use.

That wraps up my updates this week, have a great reading week and let me know what you’re up to.

  1. I guess that peanut butter is one of those ‘love it, or hate it’ tastes – and I LOVE IT! Hubby however can’t stand the stuff, so if I were to make a batch of those delicious cookies, I would have to eat them all myself 🙂

The Michael Cordell book sounds good, but it looks to be the second book in a series, so I was wondering if you have read the first one, or are hoping to read this as a stand alone? I might just have to try and source book #1

The mood blanket is looking good, but given the way things are right now, I don’t think mine would be quite so multi-coloured and bright!! It will definitely be something for you to look back on in years to come, so long as you keep a note of which colour represented which mood 🙂

    Have a great week 🙂

    • Peanut butter is definitely love it or hate it with most people and these cookies are very rich. The Michael Cordell book is the second in the series and so far I think it’s fine as a standalone.
The colors I assigned to my mood blanket are mostly bright. White represents tired which there’s been the most rows of in January.
Enjoy your week and happy reading Yvonne!

  2. We just got tons of snow so sunny weather looks pretty great. 🙂

I’m with you on Stannis, I know he does some terrible things but I have this theory that he has the best (or one of the best) claims to the throne even though Dany usually gets that assumption. Haha this brings back memories…
