Sunday Post/Mailbox Monday 9/2/18: Hello September

sunday (249x249)mm

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists….

September has arrived so fast it seems and I am not ready to say goodbye to summer yet. Labor Day is here in the U.S. already and it’s nice to have a long 3 day weekend. I really love lazy summer days and quiet summer evenings, I have more energy during this time of year. Well, it’s not quite over just yet so I will definitely be hanging onto summer as long as I can. I enjoy the Fall season too but there is something special about the summer months.

One thing I am dreading about September being here is my morning work commute on Tuesday since schools are back in so I’m back to my 45+ minute drive due to traffic jams. During the off school months it’s just a 20 minute drive. *sigh* I am going to have to start listening to audio books in my car in the mornings, I need to download the app and hook it up to my bluetooth.

Good morning everyone and Happy Memorial Day. It is a 3 day weekend here in the U.S. and the unofficial start of summer and it is really needed. Yesterday was gorgeous out and the temps were in the upper 80’s. I headed out early to meet with my girlfriend for a walk at the gardens I like to visit near home so that was a nice way to start my Saturday. It is very picturesque there and I am lucky to live close by enough that I can drive out there often.

A little Neruda is good for the soul

Tonight I Can Write The Saddest Lines

She loved me sometimes, and I loved her too.
How could one not have loved her great still eyes.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
To think that I do not have her. To feel that I have lost her.

To hear the immense night, still more immense without her.
And the verse falls to the soul like dew to the pasture.

What does it matter that my love could not keep her….

Pablo Neruda

My friend Laurie Viera Rigler author of Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict and Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict was kind enough to share a link with me. It is an article in the New York Times about Pablo Neruda and his three homes in Chile: In Chile, Where Pablo Neruda Lived and Loved

I thought I would share it here as well. It was nice to take a peek into one of my favorite poets homes.

Enjoy your weekend 🙂
