Happy Sunday. It is a nice three day weekend as we celebrate Memorial Day here in the US. That picture above is of my all time favorite paintings, by Vincent van Gogh, “The Starry Night“. I went into NYC yesterday to see it at the MOMA. I went in specifically to see Van Gogh and I definitely enjoyed my trip to the museum. It was my first time going to this one because whenever I go into the city for a museum trip, I always go to the Met, that is my absolute favorite. There was a little crowd gathered around The Starry Night but my son and I managed to take a selfie with it anyway…lol. I will be printing that one out and hanging it in my cubicle at work. 🙂

Happy Sunday. Today is my son’s birthday so it is one of my favorite days of the year. 🙂 I tend to get misty eyed when my kid’s birthday’s roll around. It feels like time is passing by so quickly.

Well, after a week of unseasonably hot weather, it has finally cooled off a little bit. I love the summer though so I can’t complain. I took the pic above at the gardens near us, I enjoy strolling through there, it is very peaceful and picturesque. There are benches here and there but people mostly throw a blanket down and just lay out.

The weather has been nice for walking my dogs also. They get so excited when I get home from work, I can barely put my things away because they are whining to go out. It seems like they have me well-trained lol.

Pablo Neruda: If You Forget Me

IMG_8315 (640x511)

Pablo Neruda breaks my heart in the best way. I can’t pick a favorite, but If You Forget Me is up there. His work is best read in Spanish as he wrote it, there is something that gets lost in translation but the work is still beautiful nonetheless in English. He evokes emotion with his words and I dip into my little Neruda collection from time to time just to savor it.

everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Killing The Love

IMG_8434 (640x427)

Seeing how April is National Poetry Month, I wanted to share a few of my favorite poems these few weeks.  I like Anne Sexton so much because her poetry is so raw. She put it all out there and there is something to be said for that. Her poems are passionate and intense.

A snippet from a favorite of hers called “Killing the Love”.

I am the love killer,
I am murdering the music we thought so special,
that blazed between us, over and over.
I am murdering me, where I kneeled at your kiss.
I am pushing knives through the hands
that created two into one.
Our hands do not bleed at this,
they lie still in their dishonor….

Oh my gosh, I cannot believe that December is flying by so quickly and that Christmas is right around the corner. This is always a busy time of year and I haven’t gotten in as much reading time as I would have liked to, but that’s ok. Once the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over hopefully I can get more time to read.

Lately, I feel like after a busy day I can’t sit and focus on reading. I tend to gravitate towards crocheting instead, I think it’s because my hands are moving. Does that make sense? With crochet, depending on the project, I usually don’t have to focus too much and I can just do it while watching tv.
