Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
Happy Monday. I just love this time of year, when the weather is getting cooler and the leaves are turning vibrant colors. It also makes for perfect cozy reading weather. Although, I have to mention I did shed tears last night over The Walking Dead. Not okay :*( If you watched, what did you think about it?
Soooo onto my mailbox….
It felt a little like Christmas morning a few weeks ago when I received these, all courtesy of St. Martin’s Press:
*Mandalas to Crochet: 30 Great Patterns
*Crochet Snowflakes Step-by-Step: A Delightful Flurry of 40 Patterns for Beginners
*Made in Paracord: 25 Great Jewelry, Accessories, and Home Projects to Knot
*Learn How to Knit with 50 Squares: For Beginners and Up, a Unique Approach to Learning to Knit
Special thanks to St. Martin’s Press. I can’t wait to try a few of the crochet patterns out.
On another note, this Autumn weather just makes me want to go for nice drives out to our favorite spots in Upstate NY and enjoy the view. There’s a few spots we like to visit each Fall and do our pumpkin and apple picking as well as getting apple cider donuts and berry pies. We picked apples last month but my favorite is the pumpkin picking. Last weekend we went out with another couple and my SIL and her boyfriend to do that. It was really the perfect day, sweater weather, good food, my family and our close friends. I’ll close with a few photos.
There’s a hayride out to the pumpkin patch.
Inside the corn maze. It will forever remind me of Children of the Corn.
The view from the corn maze. You can see the Ferris Wheel nestled among the other rides.
No trip out there is completed without getting our fav treats like caramel apples and cotton candy. The country store has apple cider donuts and pies that are sooo good. My favorite is “Very Berry” pie. Each year we’ve gone, the pies are warm out of the oven when you buy them.
That’s all for now, thanks for stopping in. I hope you enjoy your week. What books have arrived at your doorstep lately?

I wish I could crochet! A tree full of those snowflakes would be gorgeous at Christmas.

Hi Naida,
I love looking through craft books, although I am not really much of an accomplished crafter myself. I wish I had more time to study something new, however I guess I shall probably stick to my knitting and basic crocheted afghan rugs.
I too would rather have spring and autumn than high summer and the leaves have been particularly lovely here this year, although they do seem to be falling much more quickly than usual.
Halloween is becoming big over here in the UK, although I am not a fan personally. It is also carnival and fair season, as the children are on their half-term break. I am not a huge fan of pumpkin, but candy floss (cotton candy) and toffee apples (caramel apples) are firm favourites, although I do try and stay clear, as the sugar content of both is horrendous and we are both trying to be a little more health conscious.
Loved your pictorial memories of your day and enjoy your Halloween celebrations 🙂

Hi Yvonne. I’ve been wanting to try knitting again, I tried in the past and even still have my knitting needles, but it just never took. I’d be knitting yet thinking how I wanted to get back to my crochet 🙂
I love when the leaves turn color, so pretty to look at.
I didn’t know cotton candy was called candy floss by you, interesting.
With Halloween come and gone I am ready for Thanksgiving. It’s a favorite holiday.
Enjoy your weekend!

Lovely book post, I love the photos, you need to upload your pumpkin. I carved my first ever last week, just a wee generic eyes and smile but was pretty delighted.
I have had a few incoming books but not as many as usual, got a true crime one and some Kimberley Chambers aong with some from the works. xxx
