The awesome Carl over @ Stainless Steel Droppings hosts R.I.P. which is in its tenth year now. This is one of the reading events I have participated in since I began blogging years ago. Now with my new blog I knew I would be taking part again because along with my favorite time of year, comes my favorite reading challenge.

This time around the event is hosted over @ The Estella Society: Readers Imbibing Peril X.

Info:

Without further ado, pick your poison, wonโ€™t you? September 1st is here, and weโ€™re ready to begin!

Mystery.
Suspense.
Thriller.
Dark Fantasy.
Gothic.
Horror.
Supernatural.

Or anything sufficiently moody that shares a kinship with the above.

R.I.P. X officially runs from September 1st through October 31st.

The review site is here.

What I like about R.I.P. is that it is very laid back and gives you a few options for participating. I always do Peril of the Short Story and Peril On the Screen.
I only read Poe during this time of year so that will definitely be on my R.I.P. radar this time again. I will also try to fit in a scary book between now and October 31st, which will not be difficult at all as not only do have several in my shelves but I also have a few on my Nook.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore–
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“‘Tis some visiter,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door–
Only this and nothing more.”
-Edgar Allan Poe

Happy reading everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I’m including a Poe story in my “Peril of the Short Story” participation this year. Can never get enough EAP! :-). Good luck with the challenge!

  2. This is such a beloved event among book bloggers for many good reasons. In particular I love readinh so many posts on so many interesting stories.

I will try to join in myself with at least an entry or two.

  4. I don’t seem to do well with even the laid back challenges these days. I love this challenge and could easily participate given I am fan of most of the genres covered. I wish you luck with it, Naida!

  5. Hi Naida,

Reading challenges just aren’t for me, even though I am completely jealous about some of the amazing books many of the participants are going to be reading.

Your own choice of titles is quite eclectic, although my favourite is miles ahead of the rest. ‘Rebecca’ is one of those stories I could possibly read over and over and each time discover some small interesting point, that I hadn’t noticed before!

The sequel to ‘Rebecca’, ‘Rebecca’s Tale’ by Sally Beauman, is also very good.

Enjoy the challenge and keep us posted ๐Ÿ™‚
