Sunday Post: 10/29/17 Autumn, updates and crochet

sunday (249x249)
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog…

Happy Sunday everyone. It is a rainy one here in Jersey with flash flood alerts for later today. I got my errands run yesterday early so today I can just lounge at home in my pj’s and relax. I also bought my Halloween costume, which was really putting a few things together to wear. We are dressing up at work as our “future selves”, so I got what I thought I would look like in my 80’s, white wig and head kerchief included. It should be interesting. Are you dressing up for Halloween?

Today I’ll be binge watching Stranger Things 2 while working on my crochet, I can’t wait. It’s a great show. Speaking of crochet, I finished up the pooled blanket I had been working on. I photographed it at a favorite nearby park.

Also, I’ve been enjoying the Autumn weather and the beautiful change of colors. I took this picture on a walk last weekend.

Reading wise, I’m about done with The Dead Zone so hopefully my review will be up next week.

Also of note, a big congrats and good luck to fellow book blogger James J. Cudney, his book Watching Glass Shatter is now available. Click here for book tour info.

“A contemporary fiction novel focusing on a New England family’s drama set in current times.”

That about covers it for now. What are you up to? Enjoy your Sunday.

  1. Here on Long Island it is just beginning to feel a little like Fall, but it is still warmer then usual.

It has been a while since I read The Dead Zone. I remember really liking it. If I recall there some stuff about an American President that is seems very relevant today.

I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on the book.

    • Hi Brian. The temps have dropped this weekend so time to put the heat on at home..lol.

I finished up The Dead Zone and felt so so about some of it. Yes, there is a political storyline in there too and it did hit close to home a bit.
      Thanks and enjoy your weekend.

  2. I love those gorgeous blankets! My mom used to crochet lovely things for me, and when I lived in a townhouse with a loft, I draped them over the railing.

Enjoy your day…I am also lounging around, having finished my errands yesterday, too.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  3. Hi Naida,

Autumn leaves are falling in abundance this weekend as it is quite windy, and although still very mild, temperatures are due to take a dive from tomorrow.

‘Watching Glass Shatter’ sounds like a good family drama / saga, although I must admit that I expected it to be quite a chunkster read and certainly not less than 300 pages – I am quite tempted!

As usual, your blanket looks great and makes my fingers itch to get on with the Afghan I have almost finished. The blankets are really popular in the charity shop and sell through quickly, so that is quite satisfying to see and it all helps to raise funds for the hospice.

You have no idea how much wool I have stacked away in cupboards and drawers ready to use up and last week when we were out and about, I discovered a local source of very inexpensive wool which will be ideal for making the charity shop pieces, although I’m not so sure that hubbie looked all that pleased!

Thanks for sharing and have a good week ‘Happy Reading’ 🙂

    • Hello Yvonne. It’s cooled off here and now we have the heat on at home. It’s nice though, cozying up in the evenings with a good book and a cup of hot tea.

That nice you do the knitting for charity and a good cause. I have site bookmarked for donating crocheted/knitted hats for kids. I hope to whip a few up to send. I can’t resist a yarn sale lol.

      Happy reading too 🙂

  4. Your blanket looks great! Wow! I don’t think I have the patience to figure out a pooling pattern. (Also, I knit, which yields slightly different results.)

I do plan to dress up for Halloween this year, for the first time in, well, decades. I bought a great witch hat, which I’ll pair with black skirt, black long-sleeve T, and knee-length black cardigan for a modern-witch look. I’m thinking along the lines of Madame Pinch’s successor as Hogwarts librarian — the kind of librarian who helps and supports rather than the severe, no-talking sort.

Have fun on Halloween, and have a great reading week!

  5. A PJ day sounds so nice! I wonder if I can get away with that today. It’s almost noon, and I’m still not dressed. Your Halloween costume sounds wonderful! You’ll have to take lots of photos. 🙂 I won’t be dressing up for Halloween, although my daughter will. Her school is having their annual Halloween parade, although it’s set up a bit different this year because of new closed campus rules. I took the day off to be sure I could go see the parade. We’ll be going trick-or-treating that evening. Our neighborhood is big on Halloween. Everyone goes all out with the decorations and there are a ton of kids who come around. Although it does seem like less and less as time goes by. I hope Stranger Things 2 turns out to be good! I am not sure when I’ll get around to seeing it, but I’m looking forward to it. Your blanket is gorgeous! I look forward to reading your thoughts about Dead Zone. That is one I’ve been wanting to read. I watched some of the TV show when it was one, but never quite all of it–or even in order.

I hope you have a great week!

    • Hi Wendy. Hope you and the little one had a Happy Halloween and enjoyed the parade! It sounds fun that the neighborhood goes all out like that.

I finished Stranger Things 2 this morning and it was so good. I really liked it. I recommend!
      Happy weekend xo

  6. Your pooled blanket is beautiful, Naida! We had a cooler day today, thankfully! I hope your weekend has been genuinely relaxing–we all need a break from work. I’m hoping to read for a bit today, but the day is slipping away, and the World Series will be on soon. I probably won’t dress up for Halloween, but I do have a little “candy corn” dress for Daisy. Have a great week ahead!

  7. What beautiful pictures in the park and your blanket is so pretty. Looks so cozy! Ok, you have to share a picture of your Halloween costume! I love Halloween but no dressing up for me this year. Hope you are having a great week.

  8. I love the blanket! We’ve been getting more showers lately so it is refreshing from the hot and humid weather we always have. I love seeing pics of Autumn so I hope you’ll post them more if you can.

    Happy Halloween! 🎃

  9. I love the blanket, did you ever do the bookmarks? I sadly didn’t get to dress up as I was working nightshift but did get some trick or treaters and some of the costumes this year was fabulous.

I love the weather this time of year, well looking out from the warmth, it is getting too cold too quick xxx

  10. Feeling autumnal here. I do hope the alerts proved to be unfounded.

Loving your Halloween theme. Any chance of some photos?

My niece is so like my sister (her mam), my sister so like our mam that both my niece and sister would just have to look to the next generation. Not sure who I’d look to for my future self but I’m sure I have the imagination to come up with a great costume.
