Good morning and happy Sunday. It is a nice brisk Sunday morning here. We have had some gorgeous Fall weather lately and I’ve been enjoying it. I have had a busy couple of weeks and enjoyed a few days in Gettysburg PA  recently. War history is usually is not my thing but for some reason the Civil War has always fascinated me so staying in Gettysburg has been on my wish-list for some time. I will share a few more pics at the end of this post if anyone wants to see.

Reading-wise I have managed to get some good reading in these few weeks and am finishing up my 3rd book for the month. With the 24 hour read-a-thon next weekend I hope to get another book read then. I have fallen behind on return blog visits, I will be getting to blog hop today and this upcoming week. Thank you all for stopping in and commenting as always.

I will close with photos of beautiful historic Gettysburg PA. Have you been? I saw the battlefields, visited the National Military Park and museum, saw where Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg address and we took a tour of the Jennie Wade house among a few other stops. There was a lot of walking that trip and the weather could not have been more perfect in the 70’s and with the sun shining. We also took a lantern lit ghost tour the first night we were there. Gettysburg is said to be a hotbed of paranormal activity if you’re into that kind of thing. I think it may be true with so much that went on there during the battle. It was amazing getting to visit these historic spots in person.

This is the side door of the Jennie Wade house , she was the only civilian killed during the battle at Gettysburg. Those are actual bullet holes from Confederate fire and the one on lower right on the door is from the bullet that hit her while she was baking bread. The Travel Channel listed this house as one of the top haunted in the country. Did it feel funky in there during the tour? Yes it did. We toured the house including the cellar.

I really wanted to see the memorial to the Gettysburg Address. Getting to visit the Soldiers’ National Cemetery where President Lincoln arrived to deliver his famous speech was very cool and the highlight of my trip.

Also on my must-see list was General Lee’s Headquarters.

Lee led the South and he and his troops were tented out all along this area.  The widow who owned this house cared for the injured soldiers here as well during the battle, both Union and Confederate.

All in all, a fantastic visit to PA and I want to go back again to see more.
